Aspire Clarksville Foundation annouces $4 Million Campaign Achievement

Aspire Clarksville FoundationClarksville, TN – On Monday evening, Dr. Mark Green and Joe Pitts announced that the Aspire Clarksville Foundation had garnered nearly $4 million in pledges, surpassing the current goal, and previous campaigns, by a wide margin.

Aspire Clarksville, an economic development foundation to benefit Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee, officially announced in February that the goal for the entire Aspire V “Focus On The Future” Campaign was $3.8 million.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for June 24th through June 28th, 2013

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Upcoming events include: Learn About Dunbar Cave SNA*, Bats and White Nose Syndrome*, Frogs and Toads*, History of Port Royal*,
Night Hike and Night Sounds*, and Kids Nature Games.

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library to host Imagination Library “Hats Off To Reading” with Celebrity Readers, June 25th

Clarksville-Montgomery County Public LibraryClarksville, TN – Channel 4 Chief Meteorologist Lisa Spencer will be among the celebrity readers at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library Wednesday, June 25th for a child-centered event to highlight the Montgomery County Imagination Library.

Other guest readers include GNASH, the Nashville Predators mascot, Kirby Cannon, APSU Head Football Coach, along with the APSU Governor’s mascot and the Tender Paws therapy dogs.

The fun will begin at 10:00 that morning in the atrium of the library.

Austin Peay State University Botanical Garden showcases area’s rare and endangered plants

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A few years ago, three tall, flowering cherry trees grew on the western side of Austin Peay State University’s Sundquist Science Complex. They provided a nice, welcoming entry into the building, but in 2007, Tennessee suffered from a record-setting drought.

Temperatures reached 113 degrees Fahrenheit that summer, and by the fall, the 20-foot tall trees were dead.

Foster Care Awareness Family DayClarksville, TN – May 17th marked the 5th Annual Foster Care Awareness Family Day Celebration. Over 450 members of the Clarksville Community gathered together to learn about becoming a foster parent at the LEAP Plaza.

Of those that attended there were a total of 9 that signed up to become foster parents.

Customs House Museum to host Annual Flying High Fundraiser Saturday, June 7th

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Held the first Saturday of June each year, Flying High is an evening celebrating regional artists, many whom are recognized award-winners in their media.

Flying High is Customs House Museum’s preeminent fundraiser of the year, supporting educational and exhibit programming of the Museum.
