Clarksville Parks and Recreation and TWRA’s Youth Fishing Rodeo set for Saturday, June 11th

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation and the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) will be hold the annual Youth Fishing Rodeo this Saturday, June 11th, 2016.

The fishing rodeo will be held at the Liberty Park pond from 7:00am to 9:00am. Hot Dogs and Drinks will be available.

Participants can pick up a form to pre-register at Wal-Mart or Grand Pa’s Outdoors prior to the event.

APSU student Dominic Critchlow sends high altitude balloon into the stars

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Give Austin Peay State University student Dominic Critchlow a balloon and a camera and he can quite literally show you the world.

A senior in APSU’s Department of Physics and Astronomy and a 2015-16 Presidential Research Scholar, Critchlow has spent quite a bit of time researching a simple solution for the complex problem of computer assisted image remote sensing through high altitude balloons.

Clarksville Travel Ball hosts Cumberland Bank & Trust Memorial Tournament this weekend at RichEllen Park

Clarksville Travel BallClarksville, TN – This weekend, May 28th and 29th, USSSA baseball presents the Cumberland Bank & Trust Memorial Tournament. Teams from Tennessee and Kentucky will be playing on Saturday and Sunday at RichEllen Park.

Pool schedules will be posted on the USSSA website by Thursday morning. We will also post the schedule on FaceBook for your convenience.

We encourage everyone to come out this weekend for some great baseball from our 10U – 12U age groups.

Clarksville Downtown MarketClarksville, TN – This Saturday, May 21st, the Clarksville Downtown Market opens with approximately 70 vendors on hand offering local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, home décor, seasonal flowers and more.

The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open from 8:00am to 1:00pm every Saturday through October 8th, 2016 on the Public Square in the City Hall Parking Lot.

For five years in a row, Clarksville’s Downtown Market, has been voted No. 1 in the state of Tennessee, in America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest, which was hosted by American Farmland Trust.

Philanthropist Ayers to speak at Austin Peay State University commencement on May 6th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Janet Ayers, a nationally recognized business leader and president of the philanthropic Ayers Foundation, will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 87th Spring Commencement on May 6th.

The Ayers Foundation was created in 1999 to sustain and/or significantly improve the quality of life in Tennessee. The organization accomplishes this mission through financial support for college scholarships, medical services for children, research into pre-cancer detection and diagnosis, continuing education for teachers, mental health research and other initiatives.

Annual Women’s History Month Exhibition at Customs House Museum

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Each year the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center features the art of women in celebration of Women’s History Month. This year, Tennessee women artisans are showcased in the newly renovated Kimbrough Gallery. The exhibit, titled A Woman’s Touch, includes sculpture, jewelry, clothing, furniture, printmaking, and ceramics.

Participating in the exhibit are artists Kim Winkle, Anne Rob, Claudia Lee, Susan DeMay, Jeanie Stephenson, Jennifer Knowles, Virginia Fisher, Jennifer Crescuillo, Vicki Vipperman, Brenda Stein, and Melina Ludwig.
