Clarksville Parks & Recreation and TWRA to host annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park on June 10th

Clarksville, TN – The 2017 Free Fishing Day is Saturday, June 10th when anyone may fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters.
TWRA and Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be holding their annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park’s pond on Saturday, June 10th, 2017 from 7:00am to 9:00am. Hot Dogs and Drinks will be available.
Over 300 participants are expected. The age limit for the event is 0 to 16 years of age.

Clarksville, TN – Visit Clarksville welcomed two major events this weekend that, combined, pumped over $3.2 million into the local economy.
The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association (TMSAA) Track & Field State Championships brought some 2,520 visitors, including 600 athletes, who competed at Austin Peay State University’s Fortera Stadium for top medals in discus throw, high jump, long jump, shot put along with multiple track events.

APSU to offer first engineering degree this fall

Clarksville, TN – When Courtney Cousin walked across the stage to accept her Bachelor in Business Administration in business marketing from Austin Peay State University in early May, it was an affirmation of her work in the classroom.
One month earlier, Cousin’s tireless work in the community was recognized as the APSU senior joined APSU biology instructor Colleen White in receiving the 2017 Tennessee Higher Education Commission Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award.

Austin Peay State University Department of Music students perform, receive honors at TMEA conference

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Music was well represented at the Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA)’s annual conference, held in April in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel.
The APSU Clarinet Choir, under the direction of Dr. Spencer Prewitt, was among a number of student groups selected to perform at the conference.
TBR vice chair Emily Reynolds to speak at APSU commencement on May 5th

Clarksville, TN – Vice chair of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Emily Reynolds will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Spring Commencement on May 5th in the University’s Dunn Center.
Reynolds has had an extensive career in public service and politics, having served under two U.S. senators from Tennessee—Senator Howard Baker and Senator Bill Frist. Both men also served as majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
