Student Job Fair in Clarksville a Huge Success

Clarksville, TN – The Student Job Fair hosted by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts was a huge success. Over 400 students attended the Job Fair, Thursday, May 2nd and were successful in applying for summer jobs as well as discussing their future education plans with four institutions of higher learning.
“Great thanks to all the employers that attended as well as APSU, Nashville State Community College (Clarksville Campus), Tennessee Technology Center (Clarksville Campus) and Daymar Institute,” said State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville). “This event would not have been successful without the hard work of Melinda Williams and Wayne Simpson of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.”

School plans expansion to former Saturn dealership
Clarksville, TN – Members of the Montgomery County delegation and area education leaders announced plans Wednesday for a Nashville State Community College satellite campus in Clarksville.
“One of the best ways we can increase job opportunities in our community is through increased access to higher education,” said State Representative Joe Pitts. “Nashville State will add another lane to the higher education bridge in Clarksville and Montgomery County.”
On Monday, the Executive Subcommittee of the State Building Commission approved the first step for Nashville State to obtain the former Saturn dealership on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, which occupies nearly 18 acres in North Clarksville. State and local officials have been working for years on a deal to bring Nashville State to the city. [Read more]
Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson’s Clarksville Extension Campus to Expand

Dickson, TN– The long-expected expansion of the Clarksville campus of the Tennessee Technology Center at Dickson is going to become a reality.
State officials gathered at the Clarksville campus (3789 Guthrie Highway) yesterday to announce approval of the $16 million, 60,000 square foot expansion.
Governor Phil Bredesen made the official announcement. He was accompanied by Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor John Morgan and members of the Montgomery County legislative delegation, Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, and other community leaders. The Tennessee Board of Regents approved the expansion project as a “high priority” in its meeting September 24th, the State Building Commission will consider the project at its October meeting.
