Clarksville Students at the Academy for Academic Excellence Turn the Tables on the Staff

Clarksville, TN – We all know how teachers and staff are constantly helping our students every day.
The students at the Academy for Academic Excellence, however, are turning the tables on a staff member.
These elementary students have created six paintings, like those shown below, to sell.
The proceeds go to help a staff member who has been diagnosed with cancer and the students want to help the family pay for transportation costs to the doctor, radiation and chemo visits, and other expenses.

Clarksville Elementary School Students have created these paintings to raise money for a staff member’s medical expenses.
Student Job Fair May 2nd

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, May 2nd, a Student Job Fair will be held at the New Providence Community Policing Center, 640 Providence Boulevard in Clarksville.
This free event is hosted by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts.
This free event will be from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. More than 15 employers ready to hire will be in attendance.
A Good Time was had at the Taste of Shiloh Saturday

Palmyra, TN – The Taste of Shiloh event opened Saturday, August 25th, 2012, at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall with an overwhelming display of pinwheel appetizers, chicken stuffing with giblet gravy, barbecue, enchiladas, and double ricotta lasagna entrees, followed by gingerbread berry shortcake, caramel pie, and double chocolate cookies for dessert.
Two long counters were filled with too many foods to list.

Nashville State Community College Names Clarksville Resident Steve Conklin as Director

Nashville, TN – Eileen Crane, Executive Assistant to Dr. George Van Allen, President of Nashville State Community College, announced today the selection of Steve Conklin as Director of the new Nashville State campus which will begin classes this fall in the former Saturn dealership at 1760 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

Richview Middle School Students to Compete in National History Day Competition

Clarksville, TN – All Eighth grade PASS (gifted program) students in Montgomery County competed in the district level of the National History Day Contest on February 22nd, 2012.
Students who placed at the district level moved on to compete at the state level on April 22nd, 2012 in Nashville Tennessee.

Emily Ritchart, John Courson, Jake Kolaski, Sidney McCarty, and Cherie Saffold of Richview Middle School are heading to Washington D.C. to compete in National History Day.
Third Annual Hilltop Super Market Barbecue Cook-off Is A Resounding Success

Clarksville, TN – The Third Annual Hilltop Barbecue Cook-off featured 12 teams competing in four categories for top prize of $250.00 plus a trophy. Second prize was $75.00 with a trophy and third prize was a plaque. Each judge rated the chicken, pulled pork, ribs or beef brisket for taste, appearance, and texture on a scale from one to ten.
Nashville State Community College in Clarksville Admits 1st Student

Nashville, TN – On May 1st, 2012, Nashville State Community College officially enrolled its first student at the new campus in Clarksville when Tyreco Nolton completed the admissions process and enrolled in classes which begin on August 25th, 2012.
According to Kathy Ragan, the Nashville State admissions representative at the campus, “Tyreco was very diligent in getting his information to the college in order to start classes this fall. He is clearly excited about beginning his education at Nashville State.” [Read more]
5 Austin Peay State University Students serve as 2012 Legislative Interns

Clarksville, TN – Five Austin Peay State University students are participating in the 2012 Tennessee Legislative Internship Program in Nashville.
Alison Bright, Tricia Collis, Tiffany Kaschel, Kristen Lawson and Randi Perry are interning for various legislators during the Spring 2012 semester. Interns are assigned to legislative leadership offices and committees, and perform various duties, such as bill analysis, constituent work, research and general office work. [Read more]
AT&T and The Nashville Symphony bring music Rossview Elementary School students

Nashville, TN – As part of its continuing investment to support the arts and education, AT&T joined the Nashville Symphony this morning for an AT&T Ensembles in the Schools concert. A duo of Nashville Symphony musicians performed two sessions for second and third graders at Rossview Elementary School in Clarksville.
There are more than 35 similar performances slated for this year in Davidson, Wilson, Williamson and Rutherford counties.
