Middle College High School at Austin Peay student wins Tennessee School Boards Association Student Video Contest

Clarksville, TN – A Clarksville-Montgomery County Middle College student video, “You don’t know me yet, but thanks to public education you will,” has been chosen as the winner of 2012 Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Student Video Contest, Tell us how public education prepares Tennessee students for the future.
The contest was designed to give the education leaders and community members of Tennessee a sneak peek at the positive effects public education has on the students of today.

Nashville, TN – Students from Clarksville Montgomery School System joined approximately 400 of their high school peers in Nashville on March 9th to express their views on public education in Tennessee at the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE).

Clarksville Montgomery County School Board Reviews Report Card Results

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board reviewed the system’s results on its newly released state report card during its Tuesday work session, seeing improvements across grades, subjects and schools.
Chief Academic Officer Dr. B.J. Worthington reminded School Board members of the changes that Tennessee schools have experienced with more rigorous standards and assessments; redefined proficiency levels; a change in how results are calculated; and a state-legislated mandate that TCAP assessments count as part of students’ math and language arts grades for the second semester. Smith Lauded for Volunteer Effort

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee School Boards Association has selected David B. Smith as its 2011 Volunteer for his leadership and work in the CMCSS 100% Graduation is Clarksville’s Business project.
Launched in 2008, the 100% Graduation Project Team has had Smith’s leadership and involvement from the start.

Board of Education earns TSBA Board of Distinction honor

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education is being honored by the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) for its efforts to effectively govern public schools for more than 28,000 students.
TSBA will present its prestigious Board of Distinction Award, which recognizes outstanding performance by the entire school board, at a public board meeting to highlight the accomplishments of Clarksville-Montgomery County’s elected education leaders. The award will be presented by Gracie Porter, Davidson County Chairman and Mid-Cumberland District Director at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Board of Education meeting in August.
