APSU hosting Military Appreciation Day during November 5th football game

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – This Saturday, November 5th, 2016, the Austin Peay State University athletics department will honor local veterans and military-affiliated individuals with a special Military Appreciation Day during APSU’s 4:00pm football game at Fortera Stadium.

All veterans, active-duty personnel and their families will receive free admission to the game with a current military I.D., and several military vehicles will be on display in tailgate alley and inside the stadium.

APSU to Have Increased Autonomy with Local Governing Board

Tennessee Higher Education CommissionClarksville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has appointed eight individuals to the newly created institutional governing board at Austin Peay State University.

The purpose of the appointments is to give the University increased autonomy to support student success as the state continues its Drive to 55 Initiative. Austin Peay State University’s governing board is one of six to be appointed by the governor, a result of the governor’s FOCUS Act passed by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year.

APSU nursing student wins THEC community service award

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Navdeep Saini, who may well be the nicest student attending Austin Peay State University, doesn’t like to talk about himself that much. If pressed, he’ll admit that he speaks six languages and has a degree in biotechnology (that he earned in Russian), but talking about his accomplishments seems to embarrass him.

He looked particularly shy at APSU’s Einstein Bros. Bagels coffee shop earlier this month when someone asked Saini about another accolade.

APSU College of Business adds new degree programs

Austin Peay State University - APSU - logoClarksville, TN – Earlier this fall, the Austin Peay State University College of Business took a major step toward earning professional accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) when it began modifying its existing academic programs.

For years, APSU business students had only one degree option—a Bachelor of Business Administration—with seven different concentrations in accounting, finance, economics, management, international management, general business and marketing.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s longstanding support of military veterans has led the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) to name the University a Veterans Education Transition Support (VETS) Campus.

According to THEC, VETS Campus certification is awarded to higher education institutions that “not only prioritize outreach to veterans, but successfully deliver the services necessary to create a supportive environment where student veterans can prosper while pursuing their education.”

APSU now offering graduate degree in engineering technology

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this year, the Tennessee Higher Education Commission approved a new graduate degree program at Austin Peay State University – a Master of Science in Engineering Technology.

The program, developed in response to the needs of industrial employers in this area, is currently accepting students for the Fall 2014 semester.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System gets Grant to Cover Dual Enrollment Costs for STEM Academy, Middle College Students

Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemNashville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has received a $40,000 grant to pay for STEM Academy and Middle College High School’s students’ fees for dual enrollment in college courses.

The Tennessee College Access and Success Network awarded a total of $412,426 this week to six schools, two higher education institutions and four nonprofits in its third annual grant competition, raising the total amount of Race to the Top funds awarded by the Network to more than $1.6 million.
