APSU GIS Center’s virtual reality drone lab immerses students in real-world experience

The Austin Peay State University (APSU) computer science students are helping establish a virtual reality drone laboratory at the APSU GIS Center on campus, and they’re having to learn new coding and technology along the way.
APSU holds Historic First Board of Trustees meeting

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University convened its inaugural Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, March 30th, completing the transition from the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) to its own local governing board.
Austin Peay President Alisa White, joined by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and observed by University faculty and staff, as well as media and members of the community, called the ‘historic’ first meeting to order.

Austin Peay State University supporters Bibb and Lott honored with TBR’s Chancellor Award

Clarksville, TN – Last month, during Austin Peay State University’s 58th Annual Tower Club Dinner Meeting, longtime APSU supporters Jeff Bibb and Frank Lott were honored with the Tennessee Board of Regents’ 2016 Chancellor Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.
“For nearly two decades, Jeff Bibb and Frank Lott have quietly supported Austin Peay State University, with many in the community not realizing how vital they are to this institution,” TBR Chancellor David Gregory said. “Austin Peay is a stronger institution because of their support and generosity, and their creative talents will allow this institution to attract new students and connect with successful alumni in the coming years.”
Residents within 250 miles can get in-state tuition rates at APSU

Clarksville, TN – If you live or attend high school in a county outside of Tennessee that is within a 250-mile radius of Austin Peay State University, then you qualify for a discounted tuition rate for both undergraduate and graduate programs at Austin Peay.
High school students who have a 22 ACT (or 1020 SAT) or higher are eligible for an additional Provost Scholarship, bringing tuition rates within a few dollars of the University’s in-state rate.
APSU supporter Don Jenkins receives Tennessee Board of Regents Chancellor’s Award

Clarksville, TN – Don Jenkins, president and CEO of Jenkins & Wynne Ford-Lincoln-Honda, was presented with the Tennessee Board of Regents 2015 Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Philanthropy earlier this month in recognition of his years of service to Austin Peay State University.
“Mr. Jenkins is a true friend and supporter of this University,” John Morgan, TBR Chancellor, said during the annual APSU Foundation Dinner on June 2nd.
APSU alumnus Pace receives Tennessee Board of Regents philanthropy award

Clarksville, TN – Wayne Pace (’68), Austin Peay State University alumnus and former executive vice president and chief financial officer of Time Warner Inc., was recently honored by the Tennessee Board of Regents for his unwavering generosity toward his alma mater.
In late April, TBR Vice Chair Emily Reynolds presented Pace with the 2015 Regents Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.
APSU 2014: A Year in Review

Clarksville, TN – Some years move along at a quiet, steady pace, continuing the traditions and patterns of the previous year before quietly fading into the next. No milestones mark the passage of time, and people often find themselves bored or, worse yet, uninspired.
At Austin Peay State University, 2014 was not that type of year. The last 12 months passed with such speed, thanks to major changes within the University, that the campus community will likely remember this past year as a crucial time in Austin Peay’s progression into a leading institution of higher learning.
APSU art students earn several awards and scholarships

Austin Peay State University provost Dr. Tristan Denley to take position as vice chancellor at Tennessee Board of Regents

Clarksville, TN – APSU’s chief academic official, Dr. Tristan Denley who currently serves as Provost, has informed the campus community that he has accepted a position with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, pending an official vote by the TBR.
Tentative plans are for Denley to begin in his new role with TBR in August.
