The program is designed to assist income eligible, full-time APSU student parents with holiday shopping by providing gifts for their children.

Austin Peay State University student newspaper wins awards at national convention in Atlanta

APSU Student Newspaper - The All State - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The All State, the student-run newspaper at Austin Peay State University, earned two national awards from the College Media Association (CMA) during the organization’s Fall National Media Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, October 29th.

Glavine Day, sports editor, earned a coveted second place national Pinnacle Award for Best Sports Page/Spread for her designs featuring the huge win by the Govs at the 2016 Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Championship.

APSU Student Newspaper - The All State - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s student-produced newspaper The All State, after 85 years in print, can declare itself as the finest college paper in the Southeastern U.S.

The All State took first overall in the best college newspaper category at last week’s Southeast Journalism Conference (SEJC), held February 18th-20th on the campus of APSU. The All State also placed third overall as best college website, while editor-in-chief Katelyn Clark, photo editor Taylor Slifko and staff writer Sarah Eskildson combined to finish second for best public service journalism.

Austin Peay’s Help an Elf program provides Christmas gifts for children of students

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – For the past 18 years, Austin Peay State University campus organizations and departments and individuals have served as Christmas angels, making sure income-eligible students had gifts for their children during the holiday season.

Student Staff Garners Awards

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – The All State, Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, was named fourth best college newspaper in the south at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference held February 9th-11th at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Eight student staff members attended the annual conference, several of whom earned regional honors for their work. The All State ranked higher than all other Tennessee colleges competing and above a number of student newspapers from much larger journalism programs across the south.

A total of 34 colleges and universities entered the competition for Best College Newspaper in the South. [Read more]

History honor society represents Austin Peay State University well at National Conference

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Deanna Carter, an Austin Peay State University history graduate student, felt a little like a celebrity. Whenever she walked through the lobby of the Hilton at Orlando’s Walt Disney World resort, people would stop their conversations and glance over at it.

Their attention was likely focused on her gray blazer, which had the words “Austin Peay State University Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society” stitched across the front.

“There were people from as far as California there and from some very prestigious schools, such as Carnegie Melon University, and they all knew us,” Carter said.

APSU staff members honored for continuous service, retirement or education

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Several employees at Austin Peay State University were recognized Friday, July 22nd for their continuous years of service. A reception was held in the Morgan University Center ballroom to honor those employees.

Donna Liverett, administrative assistant in the APSU Department of Chemistry, was honored for her 40 years of service to APSU.
Employees with 25 years are Clifford Frederick, Cheryl Garrett, David Gleckler, Denise Hemingway, Michele Jones, Betty Leimer and Julia McGee.
