Customs House Museum Presents the 3rd Annual Laying Low

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 12th, Laying Low is back for its third installment to benefit the Customs House Museum. Originally created as a laid-back alternative to the annual Flying High fundraiser, Laying Low is an outdoor event suitable for the fall season.

Customs House Museum to host Carvings, Castings, and Constructions by Mike Andrews

Clarksville, TN – Hundred-year old patterns of wheels, squares, stars, and waves merge into beautiful assemblages of wood and steel. These, along side Mike Andrews’ more widely known works of art fill the Crouch gallery of the Customs House Museum on May 17th.
Artist Mike Andrews has been creating art for more than two decades out of limestone, wood, and metal. More recently, he has produced large, wall installations comprised of patterns belonging to the Clarksville Foundry.

Clarksville, TN – Today there are many recognizable names of women artists, yet according to the National Museum of Women in the Arts only 5% of art currently on display in U.S. museums is made by women.
Austin Peay Downtown Gallery presents the exhibit “Collective II”

Clarksville, TN – A new exhibit at the Austin Peay Downtown Gallery this month will highlight of the work of APSU alumnus Young Kim and APSU art instructor Becky Hall. The exhibit, “Collective II,” will open with a reception from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on February 7th, and it will run through March 2nd.
Kim, a native of South Korea, is an associate professor of art at Elon University in North Carolina. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kentucky and his Bachelor of Fine Arts from APSU. His work has been exhibited extensively at numerous galleries, including the Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA, the Hun Gallery in New York City and Causey Contemporary in Brooklyn.

The music kicks off Friday night at 5:00pm with a great lineup of Christian performers on the Mary’s the Music Store Stage to include MIKESCHAIR who will perform at 9:00pm. Eliminator and Little Queen will take to the Bud Light Stage on Friday night, followed by the ultimate Journey tribute band, Chain Reaction.
