Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County TennesseeClarksville, TN – Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County Tennessee accepted a donation from Pastor Willie Lyle of the Sango United Methodist Church (UMC) this week from the proceeds of the 2013 Sango Scamper Road Race.

Habitat for Humanity has been the beneficiary of this Sango UMC event for over 20 years.

Over 1000 bowls are prepared for Empty Bowls 2014 Annual fundraiser!

Empty Bowls ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The bowls come in all shapes and sizes with stripes, polka dots, swirls, crosses and flowers. Last week, under the direction of Professor Ken Shipley, volunteers lined up in the APSU Trahern Ceramics Studio to glaze hundreds of bowls decorated by the community for the annual Empty Bowls Clarksville-Hope not Hunger event to be held on February 25th, 2014.

The Empty Bowls project begins each year with Professor Shipley, volunteers and students making bowls from clay which the community paint and decorate.

Sixth annual Empty Bowls Clarksville expands Hope Not Hunger fundraiser to six congregations in 2014.

Empty Bowls ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – The problems associated with hunger and food insecurity are not confined to the nation’s largest cities. With over seventeen percent of Clarksville residents living below the poverty level, hunger and food insecurity are a harsh reality for many people in our community.

That means that hundreds of working adults, children and seniors in our community struggle with hunger every day. Food insecurity refers to the availability of food and access to it. Those who are considered food insecure do not know when they will have their next meal.

2013 Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County gathered together in front of the Montgomery County Courthouse yesterday to honor our veterans, as well as those who are still serving their country.

Military service is one of the highest forms of patriotism and with our close proximity to the Fort Campbell Army post Clarksville-Montgomery County is home to a significant veteran population. They are part of the fabric of our community.

Habitat for Humanity has been the beneficiary of the Sango UMC event for approximately 20 years.

“We confidently say that Sango UMC has helped lay the foundation for every home we’ve built since 1992 and we’ll be there supporting the 21st annual Sango United Methodist Church Sango Scamper Road Race,” states Jennifer Kready, Executive Director.
