FOREVER PLAID Resurrects the Magic of The Fifties
June 3, 2010
Begins June 11th at the Roxy Regional Theatre
Audiences will be humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the 1950s when the Roxy Regional Theatre opens the hit musical FOREVER PLAID on Friday, June 11th, at 8:00pm.
This deliciously goofy revue centers on four young, eager male singers — Gregory Pember as Frankie, John Moser as Smudge, Christopher Cavallo as Sparky and Ryan Bowie as Jinx — killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. Roxy Founders to be Featured Guests at June Spring Salon Event
June 1, 2010
In fall of 1983, Clarksville’s arts community received a major boost when Tom Thayer and John McDonald converted an old, downtown movie house into the Roxy Regional Theatre. The historic building on Franklin Street, with its famed neon sign, soon became a cultural hub for the area.
Twenty-seven years and more than 200 productions later, the theater is still thriving. At 7:30pm on June 10th, the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will host a special Spring Salon event at the Roxy, featuring an evening with both McDonald and Thayer.

Beauty and the Beast Jr. at the Roxy brings back fond memories
May 21, 2010
They say your first musical will always be your favorite, and that is the case for me with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, it was the show that was playing when I first ventured into the Roxy Regional Theatre. Their professional production of this Disney classic sparked a continuing love of Musical Theatre in me.
So, when I heard that the Roxy was planning on staging Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. as part of their 2010 season I was excited as I saw it as as chance to revisit my first musical. And I wasn’t disappointed. Watching those young actors and actresses performing their hearts out, renewed that feeling of wonder that I experienced when I sat in the seats watching my very first show at the Roxy.
A video used to be embedded here but the service that it was hosted on has shut down. [Read more]

This year’s conference opens with a new two-day tour centered around Clarksville’s rich architectural heritage. Participants will tour structures which tell stories of a community that began in the late 1700’s as a river city, weathered the Civil War, and later became a world center for the dark-fired tobacco trade.
We are very honored to have as this year’s keynote speaker ALICE RANDALL, award-winning songwriter and author of Rebel Yell, Pushkin and the Queen of Spades, and The Wind Done Gone, the New York Times bestselling parody of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone With The Wind.
