Acclaimed playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis to speak at APSU March 22nd

Clarksville, TN – In 2011, playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis created a Broadway sensation when his new play, staring Chris Rock, debuted at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater.
It was the title, with its use of profanity, that caught most people’s attention. Here, we’ll simply refer to it as “The Mother with the Hat.”

Clarksville, TN – Stephen Adly Guirgis’ new high-octane, verbal cage match about love, fidelity and misplaced haberdashery, “The Motherf**ker with the Hat”, pushes the envelope at the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace for four performances only, beginning Wednesday, March 20th, at 7:00pm.
Finding his theatrical voice as a high school student of Roxy Artistic Director John McDonald, Mr. Guirgis will be coming to Clarksville on Saturday, March 23rd, for the theatre’s “Wine & Theatre Night.” Following the show, he will participate in a question and answer session with the audience.
Hilldale Civitan Club to hold 39th Annual State of Tennessee Old-Time Fiddlers’ Championship

Clarksville, TN – On March 8th and 9th 2013, the Hilldale Civitan Club will hold its official “Old-Time Fiddlers’ Championship and Festival” at Rossview High School.
The Festival will start at 7:00pm on Friday, March 8th and at 9:00am on Saturday, March 9th.

Roxy Regional Theatre gives Romeo & Juliet Historical Twist, Civil War-Style, March 8th–16th

Clarksville, TN – The tale of Romeo and Juliet is one which truly transcends time and place — and beginning March 8th, the Roxy Regional Theatre will prove it by setting one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays during the American Civil War.
This historical twist to the classic love story could not come at a more fitting time, as we commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War, a time when deeply rooted hatreds often pitted neighbor against neighbor and family against family, compelling lovers to risk everything to be together.

Clarksville, TN – The Roxy Regional Theatre is currently staging their production of Always… Patsy Cline, a musical revue featuring the lovely Jacque Clydesdale as Patsy Cline and the talented Leslie Green as Louise Seger.
The show tells the the true story of Patsy Cline’s friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. Seger first heard Cline on the “Arthur Godfrey Show” in 1957, and became an immediate and avid fan of Cline’s and she constantly hounded the local disc jockey Hal Harris at KIKK Houston to play Cline’s records on the radio.

Clarksville, TN – The sultry sounds of one of the most acclaimed vocalists of the 20th century will fill the Roxy Regional Theatre, February 8th through March 2nd, in the perennial favorite and beloved musical “Always…Patsy Cline”.
Taking the stage in tribute to the country music legend who died tragically in a plane crash at the height of her career is Jacque Clydesdale. Although currently based out of New York, Jacque has strong ties to Music City, originally being from Brentwood, Tennessee, and having performed as a soloist with the LA Pops Orchestra in a tribute honoring Diane Warren, singing Shania Twain’s famous “From This Moment” duet with Grammy Award Winner Bryan White.

“The Vagina Monologues” returns to the Roxy Regional Theatre for it’s Eleventh Year

Clarksville, TN – Eve Ensler’s touching, often hilarious series of monologues about women and performed by women has played to packed houses around the country, and the Roxy Regional Theatre’s production of “The Vagina Monologues” — beginning its eleventh year on Friday, January 11th, at 8:00pm — is no exception.
Leslie Greene and Adriane Wiley-Hatfield are joined by a different guest actor each week in readings of these monologues based on interviews Eve Ensler conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships, and violence against women.
