The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemClarksville, TN – Giving Clarksville-Montgomery County School System students real-world knowledge and hands-on experience has been made possible by this month’s Board of Education Point of Pride recipient, the Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union.

CMCSS’s Career Technical Education (CTE) has worked closely with FCFCU president and CEO Stewart Ramsey, vice president of retail operations Melody Swindall and executive vice president Maria McKee to plan and implement the student credit unions at Northeast High School and Rossview High School.

Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gives the gift of Christmas to area children

December 8, 2010

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Kiwanis Clubs gathered together on December 7th 2010 to bring the joy of Christmas into the hearts of 216 children from the Headstart program and various area child care centers. The annual Children’s Christmas Party is a partnership between the Hilldale and Downtown Kiwanis Clubs, and was organized and chaired by Andrew Hale, and Matt Dyce.

It all kicked off on Monday when roughly 50 people gathered at First Baptist Church to wrap over $7,000 in toys purchased from area Walmarts. The Walmart Corporation gave the Kiwanis Club a generous discount as a donation to the program. The Toy’s included Disney Princess Dolls, Hasbro’s Littlest Petshop dolls, children’s books, Nerf Weather Blitz All-Conditions Footballs, Fisher-Price Dora the Explorer Mega Tunes Guitars, winter hats and gloves, Tonka Lights & Sound – Rescue Force trucks and helicopters, and Road rippers – Street Screamers cars.

City votes on Clarksville’s Best for the March of Dimes

Best of Clarksville PosterClarksville, Tenn -The Best of Clarksville fundraiser for the March of Dimes is eagerly awaited each year by both businesses and area residents. The fundraiser this year featured 140 businesses in 65 categories; each one looking to score the votes of area residents to be declared The Best of Clarksville. The event consists of local vendor booths, silent auctions, dance performances, free give-a-ways, and a fireworks show by Allen’s Fireworks. All of the money raised is donated to the March of Dimes.

Matthews Nissan Suzuki was the presenting sponsor. Other sponsors included Five Star Radio, Sango Village Florist, US Bank, Cumberland Bank and Trust, FedEx, Allen’s Fireworks, Ad One Advertising, WJZM 1400 AM, and The Leaf-Chronicle.

Charity Event to Benefit Camp Rainbow

Clarksville High School Rossview High School Clarksville, TN – There is a charity soccer match tonight, October 2nd, at Rossview High School. Clarksville High School and Rossview High School girl’s soccer teams will play against each other to help raise money for Camp Rainbow.

Student Operated Credit Unions Opening Soon

August 4, 2010

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemThirty two Northeast and Rossview School students have spent their summer with sums, learning the financial ropes of operating their own credit unions, which will open in late August on each campus.

Fort Campbell Federal Credit UnionFort Campbell Federal Credit Union and Clarksville Montgomery County School System began making plans last winter to institute student operated credit union branches at both Northeast and Rossview High Schools. Current plans are for the Northeast branch to be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Rossview will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Both branches will be open during the lunch periods, and details are being worked out for hours at the branches.
