APSU receives Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation grant to connect campus to Clarksville Greenway

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation (CMCCHF) recently awarded nearly $400,000 in grant funding to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Foundation to connect the APSU campus to the Clarksville Greenway.
APSU’s WAPX-FM celebrates 35 years as campus radio station

Clarksville, TN – The national anthem was missing. Inside a small, dilapidated building on the Austin Peay State University (APSU) campus, three students frantically searched through vinyl albums and beneath heavy reel-to-reel tapes for the record.
It was the early 1980s, and the clock inside the University’s new radio station, WAPX-FM, was about to hit midnight.

Clarksville, TN – Alisha Jerles Horn (’09, ’12) never knew her grandfather, but sometimes, while walking across campus, she pictures him as a tall college student, dressed in an old-fashioned basketball uniform. William Grayford Nutt arrived at Austin Peay in 1937 as a 19-year-old athlete, and sometimes Horn imagines him waving at a pretty, young woman.
APSU makes campus, public aware of road projects

Clarksville, TN – As Austin Peay State University prepares for the start of the 2011-12 academic year, the campus community and the public should be aware of the various city and campus construction projects to plan alternate routes to and from campus.
Near APSU, the intersection of North Second and College streets is closed while the Tennessee Department of Transportation continues sewer repairs. This is scheduled to last six to eight weeks. If driving to campus from Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, College Street can be accessed up to Fourth Street and Home Avenue.
APSU plans grand opening of Castle Heights residence hall in August

Phase II to begin this Fall
Clarksville, TN – Campus excitement is building in anticipation of the new Castle Heights residence hall at Austin Peay State University – especially since it is the first new student housing project since Hand Village opened in July 2004.
A grand opening for Castle Heights is slated for 10:00am, Thursday, August 11th. The public is invited to attend the celebration at the new facility, located on the corner of Robb Avenue and Marion Street. The event will feature a tour, refreshments and a brief ceremony.
Queen City Road Race Road Closures

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville and Austin Peay State University’s campus will be subject to traffic control on race day — May 1st from 12:15pm until approximately 2:30pm for the event.
The following streets on the campus will be affected for the 5K Races: Marion Street, Drane Street, Farris Drive, Robb Avenue, 8th Street, Henry Street and Hannum Street. In downtown, the following streets will be affected: North 2nd Street, Main Street, Public Square, Franklin Street, 1st Street from Franklin to Commerce Street, Commerce Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, 3rd Street to Franklin Street, University Avenue from Franklin Street to College Street, and College Street to 8th Street.
