Clarksville’s Chocolate Affair a Sweet Indulgence

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, February 7th, Clarksville Parks and Recreation along with Planters Bank held the 3rd annual Chocolate Affair at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located at 1190 Cumberland Drive.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to sample products from local vendors, restaurants and groceries. It was a festive event with everyone all smiles as they indulged in chocolate delights.

Clarksville, TN – It was my first visit to Chocolate Affair sponsored by Planters Bank and the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department. At a cost of a mere $15.00, it was the bargain of the year. Seventeen vendors gave every attendee at least one piece of superb chocolate—and what a variety of treats!
Magician Russ Nowack startled chocolate eaters with appearing and disappearing coins and other mind-boggling feats. D J Folley of Big Fish Entertainment kept the music lively as kids in the audience showed off their moves.
Battle of New Orleans Commeration to kick off in Clarksville Tennessee with keelboat sendoff

Clarksville, TN – On Nov. 13, 1814, a group of Tennessee Militia rendezvoused at Nashville to join Gen. Andrew Jackson in what has come to be called the Battle of New Orleans. They left Nashville on Nov. 18, 21, and 23 and marched to Clarksville, where they boarded flatboats for the long journey to New Orleans.
On Nov. 15, 2014, two hundred years later, Clarksvillians will again send Militia volunteers on a 40-fort keelboat replica down the Cumberland to re-enact that famous battle in New Orleans.
Road Closures Announced For 2014 Go Commando Half Marathon Powered by CDE Lightband

Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this weekend have been announced for the 4th Annual Go Commando Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Fun Run, powered by CDE Lightband.
The following streets will experience intermittent delays from 7:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, October 18th.
Riverfest Festival Information, Parking and Riverside Drive Lane Closures announced

Clarksville, TN – There will be lane closures on Riverside Drive for Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival starting Friday, September 5th through Saturday, September 6th, 2014.
Traffic will be slower moving than usual during this time period, so we recommend drivers plan alternate routes or give themselves plenty of time to travel to their destination.
Free parking will be available at Austin Peay State University’s Dunn Center parking lot.
Road and Boat Closures Announced for Tri Clarksville Triathlon

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday, on August 23rd, the inaugural Tri Clarksville Triathlon will be held at Liberty Park and Clarksville Marina. Road closures and boat ramp closures will be in place during the event.

City of Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration to be held July 3rd, 2014

Parking Information Released
Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville will celebrate our nation’s independence this year with the seventh annual Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at Liberty Park.
The event is free and begins at 6:30pm. Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
Inaugural Tri Clarksville Triathlon Coming in August

Clarksville, TN – There is still time to register, and receive a discounted rate, for Clarksville’s inaugural Tri Clarksville Triathlon, coming up Saturday, August 23rd, 2014.
Hundreds of bikers, swimmers and runners will test their strength and ability along the Cumberland River and the roads of Montgomery County. The route will begin and end at Liberty Park and will consist of both Intermediate and Sprint races. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Hispanic Cultural Center goes on tour, hosts World Cup Sticker Exchange

Clarksville, TN – World Cup fever continues to intensify, with soccer fans across the globe scrambling to fill their World Cup sticker albums. The Austin Peay State University Hispanic Cultural Center and Hispanic Alumni Chapter are embarking on a tour to host World Cup Sticker Exchanges at select businesses.
In addition to trading stickers and filling up World Cup sticker albums, there will be free giveaways for those that can answer soccer trivia correctly. Participants will also receive Lady Govs Soccer posters, and be able to speak with staff members about Austin Peay, the APSU Hispanic Alumni Chapter and resources provided by the APSU Hispanic Cultural Center. Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County to hold Mega Yard Sale this Saturday, June 14th

Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County will host one final Mega Yard Sale fundraiser this coming Saturday, June 14th from 8:00am-2:00pm.
