Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is proud to announce its first ever Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00pm-5:00pm. The event will be held at the Humane Society office, which is located at 940 Tennessee Avenue, just behind Arby’s on Riverside Drive.
Guests will be able to visit with some of the foster animals currently available for adoption, shop for holiday gifts, purchase a variety of baked goods and enjoy refreshments and holiday music. Gift wrapping services will also be available for a donation.

Seeking Santa Paws Sponsors

Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville Montgomery County’s foster pets have been “dressed” in the finest Christmas attire in hopes that a Secret Santa Paws will pick them!
All have submitted their wish lists – we have checked them twice – and, their foster homes assure us they have been less naughty and more nice. On behalf of our foster babies who don’t yet have furr-ever homes and the wonderful foster families who love them as their own throughout the year, we will be accepting online donations and hand delivered gifts under the Christmas tree at the Humane Society office through next Friday, December 9th during office hours 9:00am-2:00pm. Montgomery County, TN – The Downtown Decorating Contest will be a continued tradition in the 5th Annual Downtown for the Holidays celebration presented by the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County Government, in Downtown Clarksville on December 3rd.
The contest is open to downtown businesses from University Avenue to Riverside Drive. Businesses can show their holiday spirit while vying for the title of Best Window and Door Display, Most Creative Use of Lights or People’s Choice. [Read more]

Some time back I rode down by the Cumberland River to see how high the water was after the rain that we had. Many times in the past years, I have seen Cumberland River rise so high that it’s even out of its banks and onto Riverside Drive. I have always been amazed at how much water that took, but the water always recedes.
As the river flows, it reminded me of what Jesus told His disciples, “Out of you shall flow rivers of living water.” This is found in John 7:38. That’s always made me wonder how strong my witness in the Lord has been in years past. Has the Living Water of Jesus Christ flowed out of me? [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville has reason to be proud of their local Wendys restaurants. At Wendy’s 2011 Convention in Las Vegas, the Founder’s Award was presented to Mike O’Malley and John Hughes, franchisees with Wendy’s of Bowling Green.
Wendy’s of Bowling Green own and operate the Clarksville restaurants, with locations across Tennessee and Alabama. The Founder’s Award is presented to franchisees who embody the common-sense genius of Dave Thomas, the founder of the popular restaurant chain, and is the company’s highest honor.

“Wine Around the World” to benefit local Red Cross

Clarksville, TN – “Wine around the World” is coming to Clarksville, Saturday November 12th at the Water Street Events Center. This signature event will be one of a kind for Clarksville, as sponsors will be able to sample wine’s from all over the world, matched with foods paired perfectly with your selections.
“Wine around the World” will benefit the local chapter of the American Red Cross, continuing it’s mission to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Civil War Living History Encampment to be held at the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission invites the public to join us at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, Saturday, October 22nd from 10:00am to 5:00pm, to experience the sights and sounds of a Civil War campsite and battlefield.
All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Visitors can explore the Center, which features several multi-media interpretive exhibits, observe living history stations located around the fort and watch as cannons are fired periodically. Don’t miss the chance to learn about the fascinating chain of events that unfolded on this very site during the Civil War and Reconstruction.
