Rivers & Spires Festival offers chance to meet Family Fun Stage Headliners Building 429

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The Rivers & Spires Festival, coming up April 18th-20th, has confirmed Dove Award winning Christian group Building 429 will headline the Family Fun Stage on Saturday, April 20th at 5:00pm.

“We’re excited about being a part of the 11th annual Rivers & Spires Festival,” says Larry Riley, senior pastor of Clarksville’s First Baptist Church. “It’s a great opportunity for our church to partner with Clarksville in supporting our city, her families, and Christian values.”

First Thursday Artwalk

downtown-logoClarksville, TN – You’re invited to join the merchants of Historic Downtown Clarksville for the monthly Art Walk, which will be held this month on April 7th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Kendall Welsh from Hodgepodge sent us this information about April’s artistic extravaganza.

Participating merchants include ARTifacts Emporium, The Framemaker, Front Page Deli, Hodgepodge, Ingredients, the L&N Train Station, Planters Bank, The Peg Harvill Gallery in the Roxy Regional Theatre, and Rogates Boutique.

Participating artists include Anna Heron, Allison Lee, Wendy Mitchell, Tony Yang of Fujiyama, Ulrike S. Proctor, Eleanore Williams, Beverly Parker, and KC’s Handcrafted Designs

Planters Bank Selects Two More Finalists for Nissan Cube Giveaway

Planters BankTwo additional finalists have been selected for the Planters Bank 2010 Nissan Cube Giveaway.

Finalist number two, Rise Herndon, was selected from online entries received between May and July. Herndon lives in north Christian County.

A third finalist was selected from new accounts at the bank’s eight branches during the month of July. David Fain of Clarksville was drawn as finalist number three.

Mary’s Music Store re-opens their main floor location

July 2, 2010

During the Great Flood of 2010 in May, Mary’s Music like most Riverside Drive businesses was under several feet of water. This resulted in several hundred thousand dollars in damage both to their extensive stock of merchandise, and to their building on the corner of College Street and Riverside Drive. After the flood they received cleanup help from the volunteers, including a group of Soldiers from Fort Campbell, KY.

Supporting the arts in our city

A comment made by someone at Thursday’s art walk struck me as really quite insightful, they pointed out just how much the arts community in Clarksville, TN has grown.

Indeed with events like the First Thursday Art Walk, the Customs House Museum, the D.A.C. Gallery, the new APSU Downtown Gallery, Jammin’ in the Alley, Beachaven’s Jazz on the Lawn, Silke’s Old World Bread’s Evening with the Artist, the professional performances conducted by the Roxy Regional Theatre, the Community Concert Association’s Concert Series, Rivers & Spires, Riverfest, and the many events sponsored by the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, they have a point!

Children’s Parade: “Games we like to play!”

rivers-and-spiresOnce again, kids 12 years of age or younger and their accompanying adults can join all the fun – characters in costume, small floats and walkers – in the Fifth Annual Rivers & Spires Children’’s Parade to be held Saturday, Apr 18 at 1:00 p.m.  The theme for this year’’s parade is “Games We Like to Play!”

Children and groups are encouraged to enter the Children’’s Parade theme contest. A group may be defined as a non-commercial organization, commercial organization, schools (public or private), daycares, neighborhoods, families, performing groups, etc. Entries will be judged on creativity and the parade theme. Special thanks to Five Star Radio Group, who once again is sponsoring the prize money for the best group, best individual and best float in this year’’s parade.
