Hands on Clarksville receives Home Depot Grant for Veteran Weatherization Project

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville is pleased to announce it has received a community grant from The Home Depot Foundation to help local veterans and their families with weatherization repairs.

With help from Home Depot’s Team Depot, community volunteers will implement the Hometown Heroes Weatherization Project in late February 2012.

According to the Home Depot Foundation website, Home Depot supports volunteering to improve the physical health of neighborhoods and help creates healthier and more stable environments where families can thrive. [Read more]

Bowl-a-Thon at APSU makes bowls to fight hunger

Empty Bowls ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville invited the community to the second annual Empty Bowls “Bowl-a-thon” hosted by Ken Shipley, Associate Professor Austin Peay State University on Saturday, October 8th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in the Trahern building located on campus.

The LEAP Organization answered the invitation by sending board members, mentors, and mentees to help create the ceramic clay bowls. “This is really cool, I never thought I would get into playing with clay, but this is actually fun” commented Keynan Puckett, one of the LEAP mentees who also brought his family to join in this community service outreach event.

Clarksville, TN – In collaboration with Hands On Clarksville, the LEAP Organization is utilizing its youth and mentors to help meet the goal of 600 volunteers during the Serve to Remember Days of Service in remembrance of 9/11.

Hands on Clarksville and The Center for Nonprofit Management to hold Nonprofit Training Workshops

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network’s July meeting will include a special training opportunity offered by The Center for Nonprofit Managment (CNM). CNM is offering the training to Montgomery County and surrounding areas.

The two, 2 1/2 hour workshops will provide information on the basics of grant writing and community partnerships. The goal of the these workshops is to help the community better understand the grant process and pursue collaborations with local business partners during these challenging economic times. Clarksville Empty Bowls 2011

Coming together as a community to help feed hungry people is at the heart of what Empty Bowls is all about.

Empty Bowls ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Empty Bowls is Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011 and tickets are now on sale. Tickets are $15.00 each and include handpainted bowl, soup, bread and drink. Lunch will be from 11:30am to 1:00pm. Dinner will be from 4:30pm to 7:00pm.

The event will be held at Emmanuel Family Life Center located at 303 Fairview Lane, Clarksville, TN.

Proceeds from your $ 15.00 ticket purchase donation will benefit Grace Assistance and Loaves & Fishes, organizations which provide thousands of meals annually to our hungry neighbors.
