August 9th is the Deadline for Tennesseans to Register with FEMA

Nashville, TN – Tennesseans who suffered losses due to severe spring weather have about six weeks remaining to apply for assistance. August 9th is the last day the Federal Emergency Management Agency will accept applications for individual assistance.
State and federal officials continue to encourage anyone with damage or other losses in the disaster-designated counties to register. “You may think you don’t need assistance, but you could later have disaster related losses,” said TEMA Director James H. Bassham “Registration with FEMA is free. It’s better to get your name in the system before the August 9th deadline. After that date, it will be too late.” [Read more]
Hands on Clarksville and The Center for Nonprofit Management to hold Nonprofit Training Workshops

Clarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network’s July meeting will include a special training opportunity offered by The Center for Nonprofit Managment (CNM). CNM is offering the training to Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
The two, 2 1/2 hour workshops will provide information on the basics of grant writing and community partnerships. The goal of the these workshops is to help the community better understand the grant process and pursue collaborations with local business partners during these challenging economic times. Annual TWRA, Clarksville Parks and Recreation Youth Fishing Rodeo Saturday
Clarksville, TN – On the second Saturday in June each year, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency allows all residents and non-residents to fish without a license. Children ages 16 and under are urged to bring their fishing poles and bait to the pond at Liberty Park for free fishing from 8:00am to 10:30am, June 11th. Registration will begin at 7:00am.

The other portions of Liberty Park will remain closed, except for the boat ramp and boat docks that are now open from 7:00am to 8:00pm each Saturday and Sunday.

Week-delayed 17th annual Governors Bass tourney set to cast off Sunday

Clarksville, TN – After a week’s delay, the 17th Annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament will cast off Sunday at Kentucky Lake, with boat launching from Paris Landing, Tenneesse, State Park.
The tourney originally scheduled for May 14th, was postponed as a result of extremely high waters and flooding resulting from recent rains.
For the first time in tourney history last year’s tourney was delay—two weeks—for similar water/rain-related reasons. The tourney still drew 269 boats.
The First Tee of Clarksville Summer Session Registration

Clarksville, TN – The First Tee of Clarksville is holding registration for their summer session from 1:00pm-5:00pm through May 27th, at the Ironworkers Practice Club and at Mason Rudolph Golf Club.
The First Tee will offer vouchers to cover the registration fee of children of National Guard and Reserve members, as they did last year. The vouchers were used by several qualifying families participating in 2010. [Read more]
