34th Annual Queen City Road Race registration underway

Clarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 34th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Sunday, May 6th.
The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department announces winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of the Queen City Road Race Art Contest. Two finalists were selected from each of the participating elementary schools.
The overall winning artwork is featured on the official race T-shirt and event poster. Along with that honor, the top finalist has been awarded $100.00 for their art class. The top three finalists each won a Chick-fil-a party for their art class. Each finalist received a certificate and art kit which were presented at their schools.

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 1st, thousands gathered at Austin Peay Sate University’s Governors Stadium to participate in the 33rd Annual Queen City Road Race. This event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages and features the 5K Relay, 5K Wheelchair/Hand-cycle, 5K and One Mile Movement.
Queen City Road Race Road Closures

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville and Austin Peay State University’s campus will be subject to traffic control on race day — May 1st from 12:15pm until approximately 2:30pm for the event.
The following streets on the campus will be affected for the 5K Races: Marion Street, Drane Street, Farris Drive, Robb Avenue, 8th Street, Henry Street and Hannum Street. In downtown, the following streets will be affected: North 2nd Street, Main Street, Public Square, Franklin Street, 1st Street from Franklin to Commerce Street, Commerce Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, 3rd Street to Franklin Street, University Avenue from Franklin Street to College Street, and College Street to 8th Street. The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus. Despite record-breaking rainfall during last year’s race, hundreds of Clarksville-Montgomery County and Fort Campbell school students, teachers and family members participated.

Parks and Rec to host “Spring Into Health” fair

Spring is right around the corner, and that’s when everything becomes new again. So, why not do the same? Now is the perfect time to rejuvenate your body and mind. At the Spring Into Health Fair, over 20 health care professionals and exhibitors will be on hand to answer your questions about getting healthy and staying that way with the best and latest updates in medical services.
The event takes place Saturday, March 14th at the Burt-Cobb Community Center. Free spinal, blood pressure and cardiovascular checks will be available. Door prizes will also be given away every hour beginning at noon. Kids can enjoy the event with the Discovery Toys play area featuring educational toys. Winners of Queen City Road Race art contest announced

The City of Clarksville and Cumberland Bank & Trust have announced the winner of the 31st Annual Queen City Road Race Art Competition. The announcement and award presentations were made in an assembly at Kenwood Elementary School.
This year’s Queen City Road Race posters and t-shirts will feature the artwork of Jade Curtiss, a 3rd grader at Kenwood.
Miss Curtiss was presented a framed copy of this year’s poster featuring her art design by Cumberland Bank & Trust President Ron Sleigh during the assembly. Curtiss also received $100 in prize money, this year’s Queen City Road Race t-shirt and an entry form for the race. [Read more]
