Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 21st

Clarksville, TN – When the 2011 Clarksville Downtown Market opens Saturday, May 21st, approximately 45 vendors will be on hand offering local fresh produce, baked goods, home décor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market is open every Saturday from opening day, May 21st until October 22nd from 8:00am to 1:00pm on Public Square.
Last year, Clarksville’s Downtown Market at Public Square was voted #1 in the state of Tennessee and #6 in the nation, in the 2010 America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest which was hosted by American Farmland Trust. The online contest was a nationwide challenge to see which of America’s farmers markets can rally the most support from their communities- and support we did receive! Queen City Road Race Road Closures

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville and Austin Peay State University’s campus will be subject to traffic control on race day — May 1st from 12:15pm until approximately 2:30pm for the event.
The following streets on the campus will be affected for the 5K Races: Marion Street, Drane Street, Farris Drive, Robb Avenue, 8th Street, Henry Street and Hannum Street. In downtown, the following streets will be affected: North 2nd Street, Main Street, Public Square, Franklin Street, 1st Street from Franklin to Commerce Street, Commerce Street from 1st to 3rd Streets, 3rd Street to Franklin Street, University Avenue from Franklin Street to College Street, and College Street to 8th Street. The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. Clarksville Senior Olympics to kick off May 4th

Clarksville, TN – Senior adults ages 50 and up can register now until April 29th for the 2011 Clarksville Senior Olympics. This year’s events will be May 4th-7th at various locations around Clarksville, including The Swan Lake Sports Complex and Golf Course, Kleeman Community Center, The Pinnacle Bowling Center, and Burt-Cobb Community Center.
Seniors will face off for bragging rights, as well as medals in more than 20 challenging events, which include shuffleboard, tennis, track, golf, bowling, basketball free throw, pickle ball and billiards. Because we now have the Indoor Aquatic Center, swimming events have been added. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce announces upcoming events during the month of April.
On Tuesday, April 5th, the Chamber will be hosting a Women In Business event at 11:30am at the Riverview Inn, 50 College Street. Dale Thomas will serve as the Keynote Speaker. Born and raised in rural Mississippi, Dale Thomas pulls from her life history and the choices she made to teach “real life” lessons to each audience. Dale has been teaching for over 17 years and owns and operates a series of Boot Camps. They are workshops that educate and empower others to take their lives to the next level. The Boot Camps are topic specific and have gained national recognition including a documentary series on The Travel Channel entitled, “Cool Summer Camps”. She has been a special guest expert on The Dr. Phil Show, The Big Idea on CNBC, CMT, Vh1 and MTV. Dale is also the author of several books and empowerment CD’s. [Read more]
Clarksville Parks & Recreation to host Pitch, Hit and Run Local Competition April 23rd

Clarksville, TN – Registration is under way for the Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run. You may register your child at any of our three community centers or the Parks & Recreation main office on Public Square. Registration will also be accepted the day of the event.
This event will be held at Heritage Park Softball Fields at 10:00am on Saturday, April 23rd and there is no cost to participate.
