“Bark in the Park” to be held at New Bark Park at Liberty Park

Clarksville, TN – Happy dogs and their owners are encouraged to come to this year’s Bark in the Park on Saturday, October 6th, 2012 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the King’s Run Bark Park located at the new Liberty Park.
Bark in the Park, presented by Clarksville Parks and Recreation, is a fun, family-oriented event that will feature contests, demonstrations, dog-related vendors and services, and dogs, lots of dogs.

Clarksville’s Downtown Market voted #1 in Tennessee for third straight year

In the 2012 America’s Favorite Farmer’s Markets Contest
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Downtown Market at Public Square has been voted #1 in the state of Tennessee and #19 in the nation for large markets, in the 2012 America’s Favorite Farmers Markets contest which is hosted each year by American Farmland Trust. This is the third year in a row the Clarksville Downtown Market has won first place in the state of Tennessee.
The online contest was a nationwide challenge to see which of America’s farmers markets can rally the most support from their communities- and support we did receive! Thanks to everyone that voted! [Read more]
Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Youth Basketball League registration is right around the corner

Clarksville, TN – Is your child interested in playing basketball this winter? Clarksville Parks & Recreation is proud to offer a Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 17.
The cost is $60.00 per player. Each player will receive a shirt, water bottle and award.

7th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ Features Artistic Variety

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 7th Annual Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts will take place Saturday, September 15th from 9:00am-4:00pm. The free event will showcase the works of 26 local and regional artists along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original artwork and crafts will be on display including jewelry and beaded items, pottery, paintings, woodwork, ceramics, glass items, fabric items, photography, garden and seasonal items, and more. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2 – $2,000.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hiring Athletic Assistant

Riverfest Regatta hits the water September 8th at the McGregor Park Boat Ramp

Plastic Bottle Division New this Year
Clarksville, TN – The Riverfest Regatta, sponsored by U.S. Bank, launches Saturday, September 8th, 2012 at 10:00am at McGregor Park Boat Ramp.
This year marks the 6th year for the annual Riverfest Regatta, where participants build their own boats using materials from a specified list, and race them on the Cumberland River. The heats are timed with the fastest time being declared the winner in the respective classes. The course is 100 yards long.
Check in for participants starts at 9:00am.
Riverfest to hold First Annual Recycled Fashion Show September 8th

Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 8th, 2012 Riverfest will hold the First Annual Recycled Fashion Show. This free event is intended to educate the general public about recycling in a fun and interactive environment. Students and adults of all ages are invited to show their created fashions made from recycled materials.
The show will start at 4:00pm on the Blue Cross Blue Shield Stage at McGregor Park.
