For three Saturday afternoons beginning April 14th, the Roxy instructs a whole new generation to “Unpack Your Adjectives,” “Do the Circulation” and meet up at “Conjunction Junction” with the pop-culture phenomenon “Schoolhouse Rock Live!”

Based on the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series, this family-friendly musical teaches history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs and an energetic cast of characters portrayed by Melanie Beck, Josh Bernaski, Ryan Bowie, Hannah Church, Matt DuMont, Regan Featherstone, Ashley Laverty, Rob Rodems, Cassie Thompson and Kendall Anne Thompson. The Lone Oak Picnic is this Saturday, July 30th

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – The 103rd annual Lone Oak Picnic will be held Saturday, July 30th, 2011, in Cunningham, TN, from 9:00am to 3:00pm featuring old time BBQ, political speeches, gospel and bluegrass music, inflatables, and car show. Location is between Highway 13 and Alonzo Place, just west of the Hwy 48/13 split.

The Lone Oak Picnic is a tradition dating back to 1908, and once again Central Civitan Club is proud to host this wholesome, fun, community and family event. All are welcome.

Economic Recovery and the African-American Community

“How Will President Obama’s Economic Recovery Bill Affect the African American Community?” The answers can be found in community discussions to be held on  March 5 at the Montgomery County Public Library, 350 Pageant Lane, Clarksville, from 6-8 p.m.

cntr_community_change_logoThe event, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by the Urban Resource Center and its director, Terry McMoore, in partnership with the Center for Community Change.

Over the next 5 years a half a billion dollars in job training money will be coming to Clarksville. Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) will open a new plant in Clarksville that will hire over 1,000 construction workers to build, and provide over 800 permanent high paying jobs when they open. HSC will be one of the richest employers in Clarksville’s history since the arrival of Fort Campbell in the 1940s. [Read more]

The Montgomery County Legislative Delegation gained a new member Tuesday morning. The State Senate held swearing-in ceremony for the new members amid pomp and circumstance.

Tuesday morning marked a change in Tennessee political and legislative history. For Montgomery County, it marked a new name joining our legislative delegation.

As the State Senate was called to order, the new members of Senate stood and took their oath of office. With his family watching, Clarksville Attorney Tim Barnes raised his hand and swore his commitment to the people of this state, its laws and governance. [Read more]
