The Magical Work of Aaron Grayum Comes to the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville, TN – Through October 30th, 2016, the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery of the Customs House Museum features light-hearted paintings by Nashville Tennessee artist Aaron Grayum.
Large works featuring circus characters within powdery blue and yellow background dance throughout the gallery walls, lacing a sense of nostalgia into the contemporary paintings.

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center welcomes the abstract work of Elizabeth LaPenna to the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery as part of the institution’s celebration of Women’s History Month.
Elizabeth’s bold paintings are abundant with movement. The vivid color palettes, created through layering processes of pouring, scraping, lifting, and imprinting, pull the viewer into her dreamy, contained environments.
Obsolete Technology Explored Through Glass work at Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery in the Customs House Museum has become a curiosity shop of sorts this February. Mergings: A Visual Exploration is an exhibit of glass by Tennessee artist Jennifer Crescuillo.
Jennifer has manipulated her medium into everyday objects such as data cartridges and adding machines that do not appear to be what the average visitor expects to see in a glass exhibit.
William Buffett Brings a New Simplicity to Customs House Museum

Nashville Artist Brings the Outdoors In at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Through the end of November, guests of the Customs House Museum can enjoy the forests of Elizabeth Sanford within the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. Bright colored leaves and creatures roam the space in layers of watercolors.
Many of the pieces in the show are reminiscent of pop-up books and shadow boxes.
October Exhibits Bring Sense of Nostalgia to Customs House Museum

New gallery shows include Patterns of History, which features quilts from the museum collection. Sponsored in part by Legends Bank, this exhibit highlights fifteen covers dating as far back as 1830.
Clarksville’s Customs House Museum Offers Opportunity to Artists

Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum is offering artists in Tennessee and Kentucky an opportunity to exhibit in the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery. The open call will give ten regional artists a one month show in 2016.
The call is open to both 2D and 3D works. Prospectuses are available on the museum website as well as in the museum lobby.
Photographer Bob Sherman Exhibits at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Nashville-based photographer Bob Sherman brings his mystical portraits to the Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery at the Customs House Museum this June with the exhibit The Illusion of Person and Place: The Spirit of Asia by Bob Sherman.
The vivid colored images document the people and places Bob visited in during his travels abroad.
