Clarksville, TN – Kay Martin recently contributed an in-kind gift of a Steinway piano to the Austin Peay State University Department of Music. The gift enabled the department to acquire two new Steinway instruments.
Austin Peay State University prepares future Music Teachers with Home-School Program

Clarksville, TN – On a recent Wednesday morning, about 60 children packed into a small music classroom in the Austin Peay State University Music/Mass Communication Building. They sat wide-eyed, staring at a piano and a table full of violins and other orchestral instruments.
In the front of the room, an APSU music student tuned a cello, and the strange sound caused some of the students to kick their feet excitedly back and forth. In a few minutes, they’d actually get to touch one of those expensive instruments. [Read more]
Planters Bank Hilldale Gallery to display Minister’s Creative Diversity

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature the artistic works of Rev. Lyndel Littleton September 6th-October 3rd.
Littleton, the worship pastor at Hilldale Baptist Church, has been creating musical things as long as he can remember. In this role, he creates special musical events such as the church’s annual “Living Christmas Tree” and “Passion Play.” Over the years, many of his music compositions for handbells and choirs have been published by various music companies.
Austin Peay State University announces winners of 25th annual Young Composer’s Competition

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts recently announced the winners of its 25th Annual Young Composer’s Competition.
First prize was awarded to Ethan Greene, of Austin, Texas, for his “Dancing as may be Credible” for clarinet, cello and piano. Tonia Ko, of Bloomington, IN, earned second prize for her “Wanderer Moon” for voice and chamber ensemble, and Pierce Gradone, also of Austin, Texas, took home third-prize honors for his “Hearing Voices” for clarinet, violin, cello and piano. Community School of the Arts Summer Session Begins June 6th

Clarksville, TN – For more than two decades, the Community School of the Arts at Austin Peay State University has provided area adults and children with a means of expressing their creative energy through art and music classes.
