Gwendolyn Rodriguez Shows Art Planters Bank November 7th

Clarksville, TN – Gwendolyn Rodriguez loves to paint pictures that tell a story of a person or a time and place. Her paintings, showing a sample of her diverse interests and places around the world, will be on display at the Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery Thursday, November 7th – Wednesday, December 4th.
Although born in San Antonio, Texas, Rodriguez spent most of her childhood in Middle Tennessee. At 18, she experienced life as an exchange student in Germany, where she developed a passion for travel and languages.

Clarksville, TN – Jennifer Bowman considers herself to be a “self-taught” artist. That is not to say there is anything academic or amateur about her paintings. On the contrary, her abstract landscapes are both earthy and sophisticated.
Industrial color palettes glide across canvases in a dream-like fashion of mixed media layers made up in varied combinations of molding paste, acrylic and oil glazes, coffee, fabric and found objects.

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 8th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 14th from 9:00am-3:30pm. The free event will showcase the works of 20 local and regional artists, staged and roaming entertainment, artists’ demonstrations, and baked goods – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, handmade toys, wood-turned items, quilts, fabric purses and totes, pottery, wreaths, hand-painted signs, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $250.00.
Planters Bank to show Larry Martin’s Colorful Art in July

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature the richly-colored paintings of local artist Larry Martin Friday, July 5th – Wednesday, July 31st.
Having a varied career in Accounting, Linguistics, Music and Financial Management, Martin was always interested in art, but only began painting seriously after he retired at age 65 and has been painting for 10 years now.
Austin Peay State University to exhibit newly donated folk art collection

Clarksville, TN – In a small storage room in the basement of Austin Peay State University’s Harned Hall, Marilyn Monroe is making things a bit awkward for President John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie.
First off, the president and first lady are dressed formally, while Marilyn has opted to wear a red polka dot bikini. Then there’s that big smile of hers, which seems to mock the uncomfortable expression on Jackie’s face.

The Art of Linda Kerlin Opens at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville, TN – Visions & Feelings, a new exhibit by Tennessee artist Linda Kerlin embodies a sense of the fanciful. Delicate women collaged into a mixed media frenzy of color and script leads the viewer feeling like they have stumbled into someone’s diary.
These works are inspired by Kerlin’s environment and her love of antiques, decorating, and landscaping. Each painting displayed in the museum’s Harvill Gallery certainly is telling stories within the canvas and paper. [Read more]

Coordinated by the Roxy Regional Theatre, the street event offers 30 vendor spaces where artists can showcase and sell fine arts and hand-crafted items, such as photography, paintings and drawings, pottery, jewelry, glass items, and more.
