Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest Winners Announced

Entries on display at several Nashville and Clarksville locations through April 30th
Nashville, TN – Kindergarten through eighth grade students attending four Clarksville and Nashville schools created winning entries in the 2012 Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by Catholic Charities of Tennessee. The more than 150 posters entries received illustrated the theme, ““A Happy Family Is…”.

Four Clarksville students won awards for their posters entered in the 2012 Child Abuse Prevention Poster Contest sponsored by Catholic Charities of Tennessee. Alaina Chandler, pictured with her art teacher Nancy Diamond, won first place in the Kindergarten – 2nd grade category. She is a second grade student at Immaculate Conception School.
Veterans Outreach slated for William O. Beach Civic Hall April 20th

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, in conjunction with the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs, is hosting a daylong Veterans Outreach for veterans and their dependents from 10:00am to 3:00pm, April 20th.

Hands on Clarksville to host Nonprofit Partnership Network Group Meeting March 14th

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Nonprofit Partnership Network group will meet on March 14th, 2012 from 10:00am-11:30am at the Clarksville Montgomery County Public Library in the large meeting room. The NPN is a growing coalition of community organizations, businesses, academia and government working together to unify and support the nonprofit community.
Dr. Harry Maddux, Chair of APSU’s Service- Learning Advisory Committee will be guest speaker. Service Learning Programs integrate community service with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. [Read more]
Early Voting Begins

Montgomery County Election Commission Reminds Voters to Present Photo ID at the Polls
Montgomery County, TN – Early voting began on Wednesday, February 15th, giving registered voters the opportunity to cast ballots for the March 6th Presidential Preference Primary. This is the first statewide election in which voters are required to show photo identification prior to casting their ballots.
Montgomery County Administrator of Elections Vickie Koelman is encouraging voters to take advantage of early voting. [Read more]
Veterans Information Seminar to be held January 31st

Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Career Center, in conjunction with the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization, will host a Veterans Information Seminar beginning at 10:00am, January 31st, at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza, 350 Pageant Lane.
Veterans will hear presentations from representatives of several local agencies about employment services, job placement, veterans’ preferences, homeless programs, disability compensation, dependent benefits, GI Bill and VA health care, among other programs and services. [Read more]
Community Development Block Grant Public Meeting Notice

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government will hold a public meeting on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program at 6:30pm CST on January 30th, 2012 at the William O. Beach Civic Hall, located at 350 Pageant Lane, Veterans’ Plaza, Clarksville, Tennessee.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss possible projects for which the County may apply under the 2012 CDBG program. CDBG funds may be used for industrial development projects, water and sewer improvements, imminent threat issues, and community livability projects. [Read more]
