Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University student-athletes are no stranger to competition. Each year, the Governors compete to be the best on their team, the best in their conference and some even push to rank among the best in the nation.
Very few have ever been able to say they took on the best in the world, but a trio of Austin Peay Cheerleading student-athletes got that chance recently — and they have the gold medals to back up their claim.
Montgomery Central High School Students are trying to Win Verizon Grant

MCHS Now Eligible to Win a National Award
Cunningham, TN – Students from the Montgomery Central High School Academy of Plant and Animal Systems were named Best in State winners of the fifth annual Verizon Innovative Learning app challenge.
A nationwide contest, the Verizon App challenge invites competition from students to design mobile app concepts aimed at improving and solving for societal issues in their schools and communities.
FASTSIGNS® of Clarksville receives Rookie of the Year Award

Clarksville, TN – Local sign and visual graphics provider FASTSIGNS® of Clarksville was named Rookie of the Year at the 2016 FASTSIGNS International Convention, which was recently held in Orlando, Florida.
The Rookie of the Year Award honors the FASTSIGNS center with the highest sales volume in its first 12 months of operation and opened between October 2013 and September 2014.
APSU students present at Phi Alpha Theta national conference

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) history honors society has long been among the best in the country, recently winning Best Chapter of the Year Division IV for the seventh consecutive year.
Two members of the University’s chapter were chosen to join members of 77 other PAT chapters in presenting their historical research at the society’s biennial national conference, held January 6th-10th in Orlando, FL at the Walt Disney World resort.
APSU Department of Theatre and Dance to host acclaimed Cirque du Soleil performer Cheryl Ann Sanders

Clarksville, TN – At 7:00pm on Thursday, October 8th, 2015, Cheryl Ann Sanders will present an evening of works in the Austin Peay State University Trahern Theatre, titled “Cirque du Jeu Physique.” Sanders, a conservatory-trained musical theatre artist, has cultivated her career as an equity artist-turned cirque star.
Sanders is currently a lead artist at Downtown Disney’s “La Nouba” in Orlando, Florida.
APSU Public Relations and Marketing Office recognized in region for work

Clarksville, TN – The Office of Public Relations and Marketing at Austin Peay State University has been recognized by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) – Southeast District III for its recruitment work.
The office received a special merit award in the recruitment publication series category for print and digital pieces. The printed pieces selected for the honor were part of the Traditional Student Recruitment Series. [Read more]

In March, Stephen Dominy, coordinator of Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, was named the NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education Fraternity & Sorority Knowledge Community co-chair. Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, May 31st, the Montgomery Central High School Varsity Cheerleaders will be holding a car wash fundraiser at Hilltop Super Market from 9:00am until 2:00pm.

Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of achievements as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Dixie Dennis, associate provost for grants and dean of the College of Graduate Studies, recently contributed three chapters to the new scholarly book, “The A-Z of Death and Dying: Social, Medical, and Cultural Aspects,” edited by Michael Brennan. Dennis wrote the chapters, “Definition of Death,” “Funerals” and “Near-Death Experiences.” [Read more]
