This Week at APSU: Candlelight Ball auction to raise money for Austin Peay State University scholarships

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Charlie Daniels, the Country Music Hall of Famer known for “sawing on a fiddle and playing it hot,” helped reinvigorate that 400-year-old instrument with his 1979 hit, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” More than 40 years later, his influence continues to transform the music genre, and attendees at the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Candlelight Ball this spring will get a chance to own a piece of country music history when the school auctions off a signed Charlie Daniels fiddle.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Every spring, the Austin Peay State University Candlelight Ball provides an evening of fine dining and dancing, while also allowing participants to support scholarships at Austin Peay State University, and this year’s event will include two signature auction items – a custom-designed diamond necklace and a Music City package featuring tickets to major Nashville events – valued at more than $5,000 each.

APSU announces 2019 Candlelight Ball Award winners

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Earlier this year, the Austin Peay State University Office of Alumni Relations announced the recipients of the 2019 Candlelight Ball Awards.

The Wendell H. Gilbert Award will go to Dr. Jeannie Beauchamp, who established Clarksville Pediatric Dentistry in 1999, and the Spirit of Austin Peay Award will go to Len Rye, a residential contractor who specializes in custom homes.
