Clarksville Parks and Recreation introduces Youth Flag Football with co-ed Clinics

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will introduce a new Youth Flag Football League by hosting the first-ever Youth Flag Football Clinics this summer.

Two sessions will be held for boys and girls ages 5 to 17 at Northeast High School from 8:00am to noon, the first on June 15th and the second to be held July 13th. [Read more]

Kenwood High School Students named ‘Volunteers of the Year’ for 2013 Rivers and Spires Festival

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival is pleased to recognize Kenwood High School as the Clarksville-Montgomery County School with the most student volunteers working at the 2013 Festival.

The students were presented with a trophy and certificate recognizing their commitment to the community-driven event. The school boasted 34 volunteers this year, ten more than the second place school, with several of them coming from their JROTC program.

Clarksville High School WildcatsClarksville, TN – 2012 has shown to be a very successful year for the Clarksville High School Marching Wildcats. With the graduation of 30 seniors, the new freshmen, returning students and staff members have worked and trained extensively this summer.

This fall in marching competitions they were rewarded for their efforts with wins at Montgomery Central Indian Marching Invitational, Northeast High School, West Creek Sound Marching Invitational and The Mid-West Tennessee Marching Band Competition at Waverly Central High School.

Northeast High School Baseball 1st Annual First Pitch Steak Dinner December 13th

Northeast High School EaglesClarksville, TN – On December 13th, the Northeast High School Baseball will have its 1st Annual NEHS Baseball First Pitch Steak Dinner with Mississippi State University head baseball coach Ron Polk as the featured speaker. Dinner is catered by the Cumberland Grille.

Coach Polk completed 28 seasons as head coach at Mississippi State, and 34 seasons as a collegiate head coach. In 2007 Polk led the Bulldogs to their sixth appearance at the prestigious NCAA College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. [Read more]

The United States Colored Troops Living History Association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and accurately interpret the history of the United States Colored Troops of the American Civil War and those that supported their efforts to abolish slavery and preserve the Union and to educate the public and promote research of the history and legacy of those who served in the Civil War.
