Clarksville, TN – The BelkGives on the Go Mobile Mammography Center, a 39-foot-long, state-of-the-art screening center on wheels, will stop at Belk at the Governor’s Square August 9th-10th (Friday and Saturday) to offer free, convenient mammogram screenings.

Southern Divisional Bass Tournament 2013 Champion named at Clarksville Marina

Clarksville, TN – The Bass Federation Inc.’s Southern Divisional Tournament, hosted by The Tennessee Bass Federation, held their final weigh-in on Friday, June 7th with David Kneece being named the 2013 overall champion.
Kneece is from Gilbert, SC and had a three-day total of 41 pounds, nine-ounces. [Read more]
Southern Divisional Bass Tournament Finals To Be Held Tomorrow

Clarksville, TN – The Bass Federation Inc.’s 2013 Southern Divisional Tournament, hosted by The Tennessee Bass Federation, Inc., will be holding their final weigh-ins on Friday, June 7th at the Clarksville Marina to determine the winner of this year’s competition.
This year’s tournament has seen nearly 84 boaters from all over the South, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and North and South Carolina.
Clarksville to host Southern Division Bass Tournament

Clarksville, TN – The Tennessee Bass Federation, Inc., part of the largest Grass Roots Bass Fishing organization in the country, will be hosting the 2013 Southern Divisional Tournament at the Clarksville Marina at Liberty Park June 5th-7th.
This year’s tournament will see participants from all over the South, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and North and South Carolina. There are 175 boaters scheduled to compete in the tournament. Teams will be pre-fishing June 2nd-4th, with the actual tournament competition taking place June 5th-7th. [Read more]
APSU Students conduct research on different GPS devices accuracy for field purposes

Clarksville, TN – Late last year, a group of Austin Peay State University geosciences students hiked through the woods in rural North Carolina, conducting field research.
They were looking for unusual rock outcroppings, and after each discovery, the students painstakingly scribbled down the longitudinal and latitudinal coordinates of the rocks into their notebooks.
That is, except for APSU student Maurice Testa. He simply pulled out his smart phone and quickly went to work.

Clarksville, TN – A couple of years ago, Austin Peay State University student and former cross country team standout Tracee Gruskiewicz fell out of love with running. She didn’t want to lace up her shoes anymore and push herself to do three-, four- or five-mile runs through the streets of Clarksville.
That attitude seems so foreign to her now. Particularly earlier this month, when she ran through the Mojave Desert at night to stay cool. Or the day she jogged into Texas, the humid air thick like a sweater against her skin. Not running was never an option. Instead, she dipped a shirt in ice water, draped it around her head, and tried to get her average 35 miles of running in for the day.
The Art of Linda Kerlin Opens at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center

Clarksville, TN – Visions & Feelings, a new exhibit by Tennessee artist Linda Kerlin embodies a sense of the fanciful. Delicate women collaged into a mixed media frenzy of color and script leads the viewer feeling like they have stumbled into someone’s diary.
These works are inspired by Kerlin’s environment and her love of antiques, decorating, and landscaping. Each painting displayed in the museum’s Harvill Gallery certainly is telling stories within the canvas and paper. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University student Newspaper The All State named in Top 5 Papers in Southeast

Student Staff Garners Awards
Clarksville, TN – The All State, Austin Peay State University’s student newspaper, was named fourth best college newspaper in the south at the annual Southeast Journalism Conference held February 9th-11th at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
Eight student staff members attended the annual conference, several of whom earned regional honors for their work. The All State ranked higher than all other Tennessee colleges competing and above a number of student newspapers from much larger journalism programs across the south.
A total of 34 colleges and universities entered the competition for Best College Newspaper in the South. [Read more]
