We have heard about D-Day from movies and stories told by our soldiers who landed on the beaches and parachuted into pastures and towns to fight for France. They fought and died to liberate men, women, and children from enemy forces.

Customs House Museum & Cultural Center Remembers D-Day with New Exhibition

Customs House Museum & Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – In recognition of the upcoming 75th anniversary, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center has brought out artifacts from its collection, supplemented by items from private collectors. The exhibition displayed in the museum’s Memory Lane gallery includes both American and German artifacts.

One of the largest amphibious military assaults in history was the D-day invasion.

USS LST-325 begins Tours in Clarksville

USS LST 325

Clarksville, TN – LST-325 opened for tours in Clarksville on Thursday, September 7th, 2017 at the McGregor Park Boat Ramp. The ship will be available for tours September 7th-15th.

The LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is a floating monument to the past. The ship was used in various missions in World War II including the invasion of Sicily and the Normandy invasion. Visitors are able to climb aboard and explore the ship as the crew provides a glimpse into her past.

Military enthusiasts, history buffs, and school groups will learn how it was instrumental in battles dating back to World War II.

Customs House Museum Celebrates Flag Day with Free Event

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center will celebrate Flag Day with a special presentation on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017.

Dr. Dewey A. Browder, Professor Emeritus of History at APSU and a reared U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, will present a program featuring a contemporary view of patriotism in America. Following Dr. Browder’s talk there will be a special flag-raising ceremony by the local Marine Corps League.
