APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts presents an alumni reading and screening featuring Raven Jackson, Chip Boles and Anthony Sims Jr. at 4:00pm, Tuesday, February 16th in the Trahern Gallery on the campus of Austin Peay State University.

After finishing his English degree at APSU in 1999, Anthony Sims went on to earn an MFA from Ohio University. His feature screenplay, “Behemoth,” was optioned by Lucy Darwin (“Match Point,” “Lost in La Mancha”) in 2006.

Austin Peay State University Honors Program to screen “Welcome to Leith” as part of film series

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Honors Program begins another year of its Honors Film Series when it presents “Welcome to Leith” on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00pm in the Honors Commons classroom.

“Welcome to Leith” documents the attempt by white supremacist Craig Cobb to take over the North Dakota town of Leith, a community with a population of 24 people. As Cobb acquires property and invites other extremists to join him, tensions escalate, with the neighbors themselves employing questionable means to rid their town of its newly arrived but unwanted residents. Customs House Museum Exhibits Works by Margaret Evangeline

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Paintings by Internationally known artist Margaret Evangeline are on view in the Customs House Museum’s Kimbrough Gallery through October.

Evangeline’s work has been featured in Art in America, The New York Times, ArtNews, The New Yorker and many other publications. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in venues such as The Drawing Center, Art in General, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Palm Beach ICA, the Hafnarborg, Reykjavik and the Taipei Museum in Taiwan among others.

Ausitn Peay State University Theatre and Dance to present Tony-winning “RED” August 25th-26th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2014-15 season at 7:30pm on August 25th and August 26th in the Trahern Theater with John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play “RED.”

The play, directed by APSU Assistant Professor of Theatre Noel Rennerfeldt, tells the story of famed American painter Mark Rothko and his struggle between artistic integrity and commercialism while painting murals for the Four Seasons restaurant. [Read more]

Famed historian David Goldfield to present new perspective on Civil War on February 4th at APSU

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In August 1834, an angry Protestant mob entered a Catholic convent outside of Boston, broke windows and furniture and then set the building on fire.

The next morning, the ruins of this small convent smoldered, but the fire of religious unease, which had ignited the riot, would continue to burn for another 30 years.
