USS LST 325 docks in Clarkville at McGregor Park Boat Ramp

USS LST 325Clarksville, TN – This afternoon, September 25th, the USS LST 325 made it’s way down the Cumberland River from Nashville and docked at the McGregor Park Boat Ramp around 3:00pm. Crews began tying the boat off to the banks and preparing it for tomorrows tours. The ship will be available for tours September 26th-30th.

The LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is a floating monument to the past. The ship was used in various missions in World War II including the invasion of Sicily. Visitors are able to climb aboard and explore the ship as the crew provides a glimpse into her past.

James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac teams up with Royals Futbol Club to help raise thousands of dollars for youth soccer program

Clarksville, TNJames Corlew Chevrolet CadillacIn the spirit of teamwork taught by youth sports, James Corlew Chevrolet Cadillac is teaming up with Royals Futbol Club to provide their players and coaches with soccer kits filled with equipment bags, pop-up nets, sport cones, scrimmage vests, t-shirts, a sponsorship check and an opportunity to help them raise funds.

Royals Futbol Club will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through a fundraising opportunity where one lucky recipient will win his or her choice of a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox or 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Another lucky winner will receive a Home Entertainment Package.

Planters Bank adds Hayse McGahey to Commercial Division

McGahey has worked in both consumer and business banking in the Nashville area since 1989. He spent eight years at what is now Bank of America, followed by 13 years at what is now Regions Bank. Go Commando Half Marathon Team will raise Money for Soldiers, PTSD

Go Commando Half Marathon and 5kClarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 20th runners will take to the streets during the second annual Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k. A special segment of these athletes will be racing for a cause, to raise awareness of the struggles surrounding PTSD and combat stress.

The Go Commando Half Marathon and 5k powered by CDE Lightband will join the non-profit organization Not Alone in raising awareness of combat stress and PTSD and encourage runners to consider joining Team Not Alone as they prepare for the 2012 race.

WJZM Radio transfers Ownership

WJZM, 1400AM Radio StationClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s original radio station, WJZM1400am, has transferred ownership. In a joint announcement this week, previous owner, Hank Bonecutter, said he had agreed to sell the corporation to local businessmen David Loos Jr, Greg Walker, and Mike Parchman. The sale became official on Tuesday.

“My wife and I are extremely excited about the sale,” said Bonecutter. “We have put a lot of hard work into WJZM, and this opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime to go out on your terms. I have dedicated my broadcasting career to the Clarksville-Fort Campbell community, bringing news, sports and current events to the public as reliable and credible as I can be. I think my legacy will be left on WJZM forever. I’m very excited, and proud of what I’ve accomplished.” [Read more]
