Rivers and Spires Festival announces Joe Dee Messina as 2013 Headliner

Clarksville, TN – The Rivers and Spires Festival is pleased to announce that the Grammy nominated and CMA award-winning country musician Jo Dee Messina will be the featured headliner at the 2013 Festival. Messina will take the Public Square stage at 7:00pm as the main event on Saturday, April 20th, 2013. The concert is free and open to the public.
She will perform some of her biggest hits that made her a superstar and one of country music’s leading ladies. Songs such as “Heads Carolina, Tails California”, “Bye Bye”, “I’m Alright”, “Stand Beside Me” and “Bring On The Rain” will make up a concert you don’t want to miss.

Austin Peay State University has 35 Students selected for Who’s Who list of 2012-13

Clarksville, TN – Thirty-five students at Austin Peay State University have been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for the 2012-13 academic year.

Christmas Down Home returns to Clarksville

Clarksville, TN – This Holiday season David Alford and Paul Carrol Binkley bring their much-loved heartwarming rendition of Truman Capote’s “A Christmas Memory” in Christmas Down Home back to APSU.
The show is a collection of Holiday stories, memories, and music from a simpler time born out of a previous show Alford and Binkley helped create called A Southern Christmas Sampler which was performed 1995-1999 in Nashville, TN.

Beth Liggett, University photographer, had her photograph “Road Trip” accepted into the professional experimental and alternative processes category of the 2013 Downtown Artist’s Co-op Regional Photography Exposition. The exposition will open with a reception at 5:00pm, January 3rd and will remain open for viewing through February 1st at the Clarksville Downtown Artist’s Co-op, 96 Franklin Street. [Read more]

Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens are hosting their 2nd annual Scaryokie Karaoke fundraiser on Saturday, November 17th at Scooters Pub and Grill, 2458 Highway 41A Bypass, Clarksville. Doors open at 7:00pm, Karaoke begins at 8:00pm, and a $5.00 minimum donation is requested.

Clarksville, TN – Three faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Sergei Markov, associate professor of biology, had four chapters published in a reference book, Applied Science. The four chapters are titled “Biofuels and Synthetic Fuels,” “Bioprocess Engineering,” “Industrial Fermentation” and “Metabolic Engineering.” This publication is designed for undergraduate students, high school students and anyone seeking or planning careers in the field. Clarksville, TN – A map of the United States hangs in an upstairs hallway of Austin Peay State University’s Hemlock Semiconductor Building (HSC) with a sign above it that reads, “Where are they now?” The map is covered with arrows pointing to the companies nationwide where graduates of the University’s four-year-old Chemical Engineering Technology Program (ChET) now work.
“As you can see, it is concentrated around middle Tennessee and southern Kentucky,” Dr. Chester Little, director of the APSU ChET program, said. “I have one there in Topeka, KS, and one in Los Angeles. One in Ohio.”
Lydia Walker to sing at Freedom Deli

Clarksville, TN – Popular local singer/musician Lydia Walker will play Freedom Deli tonight from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Walker’s playlist of contemporary folk music includes “Shades of Gray” and “When I Dance.”
Walker hails from Cunningham, TN, and has been writing and performing her own songs, accompanied by her acoustic guitar, since the age of 12. She has performed at coffee shops, colleges, churches, and festivals and has just released her 7th independent album, “Beloved”, co-written and produced with Nashville hit songwriter Curt Ryle. Her goal is to inspire people with a message of hope.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Roller Derby’s Red River Sirens present “The Booby Trap: Danger is abreast!”, our last competitive Home Bout of this Season. The Red River Sirens will be taking on Cape Girardeau Roller Girls in our breast cancer awareness theme, on Saturday, October 20th at Magic Wheels, 1671 Fort Campbell Boulevard.
