Road Closures announced for Rivers and Spires Festival

Rivers and Spires Festival 2012Clarksville, TN – Road closures for this week have been announced for the 10th Annual Rivers and Spires Festival in downtown Clarksville.

Also, starting the morning of April 19th, parking will be restricted in some downtown areas. There will be orange “No Parking” bags placed over meters in the restricted parking areas. [Read more]

Humane Society of Clarksville – Montgomery County (HSCMC)Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is proud to announce its first ever Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00pm-5:00pm. The event will be held at the Humane Society office, which is located at 940 Tennessee Avenue, just behind Arby’s on Riverside Drive.

Guests will be able to visit with some of the foster animals currently available for adoption, shop for holiday gifts, purchase a variety of baked goods and enjoy refreshments and holiday music. Gift wrapping services will also be available for a donation.

“Cooling at the Cave” is this afternoon

Clarksville, TN – Dunbar Cave’s annual “Cooling at the Cave” event is this afternoon. The Friends of Dunbar Cave present music, games and refreshments at the cool cave entrance. Refreshments for a donation, t-shirts and postcards available to purchase.

Everything starts at 3:00pm and continues until 5:00pm. Red River Breeze will be at the cave entrance playing celtic music.

So come out and enjoy natural air conditioning and show your support for Dunbar Cave.

Organizations Invited to Apply for ABC Grants to Fund Arts Activities

Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council invites organizations seeking funding for artistic and cultural projects that benefit the community to apply for an Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant.

Arts Build Communities (ABC) is a program funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and administered by the Clarksville Arts & Heritage Development Council (AHDC) in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC). ABC grants offer financial support for arts projects in all disciplines such as dance, music, opera/musical theater, theater, visual arts, design arts, crafts, photography, media arts, literature, interdisciplinary, and folk arts.

Kleeman Community Center to host Quick Silver Social Event

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The Kleeman Community Center is taking their Senior Dances to another level! The Quick Silver Social which will feature games, music, dancing, and food will take place Saturday, November 20th, 2010 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

This event is free of charge and open to those ages 50 and up. The Kleeman Community Center is located at 166 Cunningham Lane.

Madame Butterfly: Broadcast Live in HD

The Met Live in HD continues to captivate a worldwide audience, bringing live, high definition productions of the world’s greatest opera to millions of worldwide viewers. The series continues  with Puccini’s hauntingly beautiful love story, Madama Butterfly, which will be screened at several Nashville venues on Saturday, March 7 at 12 noon (CST).

Opry Mills Stadium 20 Plus IMAX, 570 Opry Mills Drive and  Green Hills Stadium 16, 3815 Greenhills Village Drive, both in Nashville, will screen the live broadcast. In addition, for those who will miss the Saturday showing, Green Hills will screen encore showings on March 18 at 7 p.m. and March 18 at 1 p.m. Running time is three hours and 21 minutes, with two intermissions.

Patricia Racette returns to the title role of Anthony Minghella’s stunning production, a new classic of the Met repertory, opposite Marcello Giordani. Conducting is Patrick Summers, with production by Anthony Minghella, Patricia Racette and Marcello Giordani. [Read more]
