LEAP Youth hold Car Wash and Bake Sale fundraiser

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – On Friday, July 22nd, LEAP Youth held a Car Wash and Bake Sale fundraiser from 11:00am until 2:00pm. The event was help behind LEAP Plaza located at 1860 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard in Clarksville.

A car wash was $5.00 and the bake sale goodies ranged from $0.50 to $2.00.

“We do a lot of outings with the kids to teach them that nothing is free in the world. So we had them put together a couple of fundraisers to help pay for the trips they will be going on throughout the year,” said Malcolm Luster, LEAP Counselor.

APSU to Expand footprint in Historic Downtown Clarksville with New Art Gallery and Museum

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University is moving forward with plans to have a stronger presence in downtown Clarksville with the recent $500,000 purchase of a building at 103 Strawberry Alley.

The 15,000-square-foot building, which previously housed the nightclubs Joe B’s and Bar 103, will likely include an art gallery and museum on the third floor, housing APSU’s impressive folk art collection. The pieces in that collection were donated to the University by Ned and Jacqueline Crouch and Dr. Joe Trahern.

Customs House Museum Presents the 3rd Annual Laying Low

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 12th, Laying Low is back for its third installment to benefit the Customs House Museum. Originally created as a laid-back alternative to the annual Flying High fundraiser, Laying Low is an outdoor event suitable for the fall season.

Warfield School Items Needed for South Guthrie Community Center renovation

Montgomery CountyMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government is currently renovating the South Guthrie Community Center, located at 5025 Guthrie Road and is seeking historic artifact donations.

The community center was the former Warfield School, built in 1922, with Rosenwald School funds. The county wishes to incorporate the rich heritage of this site within the renovation, by creating a “museum” portion within the historical structure.

The Customs House Museum reopens 1898 Building with an Open House Event April 28th

The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – After months of renovation, the Customs House 1898 building will be reopening on April 28th.

In February, Customs House Museum closed the doors to its 1898 building in order to replace nine undersized, outdated, and malfunctioning Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning units (HVAC) with four commercial units.
