Clarksville not selected as Most Patriotic City

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville was not selected as the winning city in the Most Patriotic category of the Rand McNally-USA Today Best of the Road contest.
The announcement, which named Rapid City, SD, as the category winner, came today at the Destination Marketing Associations International conference in New Orleans.
Rapid City was selected as the winner from the six finalist cities in the Most Patriotic category, which included Clarksville, TN; Williamsburg, VA; Peachtree City, GA; Emporia, KS; and Fort Leonard Wood, MO. [Read more]
Best Of The Road Visits Clarksville and Fort Campbell

Clarksville, TN – Over the weekend, Tawny Clark and Chris Staudinger visited Clarksville as part of the Rally McNally – USA Today Best of the Road contest. Clarksville had the most votes for the Most Patriotic contest and earned a visit by the judges.
Tawny and Chris spent two days in town on a mission to see if Clarksville will become the Most Patriotic city. They took lots of photos and video to take back to the panel of judges who will actually make the final decision later this month. [Read more]
Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration Draws Huge Crowd

Well over 20,000 people jammed the banks of the Cumberland River as the City of Clarksville held their annual Independence Day Celebration last night. This celebration of patriotism is one of the most popular events each year.
The patriotism aspect of the evening was heightened with a visit by Captain and Clark the Rand McNally-USA Today Road Rally Team who is in town judging our city for the Most Patriotic category for the Best of the Road contest. Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan was presented a certificate acknowledging the city’s selection as one of the finalist for the Most Patriotic City spot. The ultimate winner will be announced on July 22nd at the Destination Marketing Associations International conference in New Orleans. Contest winners will land a permanent spot on Rand McNally’s new travel site and a place in the 2013 Rand McNally Road Atlas, as well as on USA TODAY’s Travel site. The five other finalists are Emporia, KS; Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Peachtree City, GA; Rapid City, SD; and Williamsburg, VA.

Most Patriotic Judges Change Trip to Independence Day Weekend

Clarksville, TN – The Captain and Clark Road Rally Team changed their itinerary so they can now visit Clarksville July 3rd-4th as part of their judging the Most Patriotic category for the Rand McNally-USA Today Best of the Road contest.
Team member Tawny Clark called while a group gathered to plan Clarksville events for their previously scheduled visit of June 30th and July 1st. Clark said it appeared more events were planned for the Independence Day weekend here than in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where the team initially planned to be Sunday and Monday. Thus, Tawny Clark and “Captain” Chris Staudinger will travel from Peachtree City, GA, to Fort Leonard Wood on Wednesday then depart for Clarksville on Saturday. [Read more]

Clarksville, TN – You can show your patriotic spirit by contributing a 3-foot-by-5-foot American Flag to be placed on the 101st Pedestrian Bridge. Flags can be donated in memory of or honor of a soldier or purely as a display of patriotism.
Team to Judge Most Patriotic City to be in Clarksville on Thursday

Clarksville, TN – The Rand McNally-USA Today Road Rally Team that is judging the Most Patriotic category for the Best of the Road contest is expected in Clarksville on Thursday.
The team of Captain and Clark set out Thursday, June 23rd, from New York City on their cross-country adventure to review the six finalists in the Most Patriotic category. The team, which is one of four other road teams of veteran travelers selected to judge contest, first visited Williamsburg, VA, and is currently in Peachtree City, GA. They plan to head to Clarksville on Wednesday and be here Thursday and Friday before departing Saturday for Fort Leonard Wood. [Read more]
