August 9th is the Deadline for Tennesseans to Register with FEMA

Nashville, TN – Tennesseans who suffered losses due to severe spring weather have about six weeks remaining to apply for assistance. August 9th is the last day the Federal Emergency Management Agency will accept applications for individual assistance.
State and federal officials continue to encourage anyone with damage or other losses in the disaster-designated counties to register. “You may think you don’t need assistance, but you could later have disaster related losses,” said TEMA Director James H. Bassham “Registration with FEMA is free. It’s better to get your name in the system before the August 9th deadline. After that date, it will be too late.” [Read more]
Team Approach to Security

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville, Montgomery County, and Fort Campbell took a leap forward to improve the security of our community and support a team approach for security efforts. The Clarksville Police Department in conjunction with the local Emergency Management Agency hosted a training seminar for approximately 30 employees from federal, state, county, and city agencies.

Hands on Clarksville and The Center for Nonprofit Management to hold Nonprofit Training Workshops

Clarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville and the Nonprofit Partnership Network’s July meeting will include a special training opportunity offered by The Center for Nonprofit Managment (CNM). CNM is offering the training to Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
The two, 2 1/2 hour workshops will provide information on the basics of grant writing and community partnerships. The goal of the these workshops is to help the community better understand the grant process and pursue collaborations with local business partners during these challenging economic times. AP-STEM Center at APSU host of teacher workshop

Clarksville, TN – Elementary and middle school teachers from Dickson, Cheatham, Humphreys, Montgomery, Robertson and Stewart counties are participating in STEM workshops at the AP-STEM Center at Austin Peay State University.

July 19th-24th is Educator’s Week at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – During this week, area educators who present their teacher badge or other indication of where they are employed will be given free admission so they can discover what the museum has to offer their students. The Museum will also be giving out information about tours of the museum for the upcoming school year. APSU certified as StormReady by National Weather Service

Clarksville, TN – In the last several weeks, Montgomery County has been under many flood, severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings – and Austin Peay State University’s emergency team has reacted quickly to alert the campus community.
For instance, whenever tornado warnings are received, APSU sends text and email messages to students, faculty and staff, and the outdoor public address system brings weather warnings to attention.
Because of APSU’s efforts to keep the campus informed of weather situations, the National Weather Service has certified APSU as a StormReady community. [Read more]
