Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department holds annual Easter Egg Hunt

Cunningham, TN – The Cunningham Volunteer Fire Department held their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 31st at the Montgomery Central Middle School. A total of 5,000 eggs were scattered into 4 separate lanes on the field. Each lane also had two special eggs containing grand prizes tickets. Each child was given a ticket for a chance to win door prizes at the end of the hunt.

Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter and Montgomery County Animal Control partner to make April Cat Adoption Month

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter is collaborating with Montgomery County Animal Control for the month of April to assist in increasing the number of cat adoptions.
During the extended adoption hours on Thursday nights from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Montgomery County Friends of the Shelter will pay the $25.00 adoption fee for all cats over the age of 6 months. [Read more]

Veterans Outreach slated for William O. Beach Civic Hall April 20th

34th Annual Queen City Road Race registration underway

Clarksville, TN – It’s that time of year again to lace up those running shoes and begin preparing for the 34th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Sunday, May 6th.
The Queen City Road Race event is a Clarksville tradition promoting fitness and fun for all ages. The 5K race route takes runners through the streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville, beginning and ending at Austin Peay State University’s Governors Stadium, while the One Mile Movement takes you on an exciting tour of a portion of the APSU campus.

Clarksville, TN – Hilltop Super Market will hold their 3rd annual BBQ Cook Off May 11th and 12th, 2012. There will be cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishing teams as well as trophy prizes.
Team sign ups are going on now. The Categories this year include ribs, chicken, pork and brisket. The pork and brisket categories have been added this year.

2012 Clarksville Sports Festival to feature a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities this weekend

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be kicking off its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center located on the campus of Austin Peay State University, with a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.
The day-long festival is a celebration of sports and athletics in Clarksville and Montgomery County that will feature not only clinics, sports demonstrations and interactive areas, but also seminars and even an exposition area where over 20 of Clarksville and Montgomery County’s athletic and outdoor clubs, businesses and organizations will come together in one location. Montgomery County Parks Department Receives Recreational Trails Program Grant

Montgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Government was recently awarded the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant from the State of Tennessee.
Of the $565,000 in grants awarded by the Environment and Conservation Department this week, Montgomery County received the largest award of $120,000. [Read more]
Austin Peay State University Spring Salon Series to discuss “Faces of Valor” book honoring county’s armed services veterans March 12th

Clarksville, TN – In early 2003, Gerald Gilman, Randy Rubel and a committee undertook a monumental task. They put out a call for veterans and their families in Montgomery County to bring in pictures and service details for a collection to be titled “Faces of Valor.”
Those items are now displayed in the restored Montgomery County Courthouse, and a guidebook was printed, featuring 255 entries of soldiers serving from numerous eras. [Read more]
