Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation is excited to offer the following homesteading classes in the coming weeks.

How to Make a Seed Bomb will be held from 10:00am to noon, Saturday, April 13th at Billy Dunlop Park. Clarksville City Forester Kathrine Killebrew will teach participants how to make seed bombs and use them to grow flowers.

Clarksville’s Garden of Hope Community Garden Now Accepting Applications

Clarksville Garden of Hope Community GardenClarksville, TN – Garden of Hope in Clarksville, TN is now accepting applications for plots at both sites. Vegetables aren’t the only things that grow in the Garden of Hope in Clarksville. Hope grows there too.

The mission of the program is to grow and distribute fresh produce to local food banks and help feed hungry people in our community. Giving gardens like the Garden of Hope provides local residents opportunities to make a difference and connect to the environment.

2016 Garden Tour set for June 18th

Montgomery County Master Gardeners AssociationMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Master Gardeners Association will be hosting the 2016 Garden Tour on June 18th from 9:00am till 3:00pm. Six gardens will be available to view with Master Gardeners at all sites to assist and answer questions.

It is a self-guided tour which also offers a variety of crafts, yard art, birdhouses, herbs and plants at the different gardens.

TSU Tennessee New Farmer Academy for New Farmers, Ranchers and Returning Veterans participants visit Montgomery County Farm

Tennessee State University Cooperative ExtensionMontgomery County, TN – Tennessee State University is conducting a New Farmer Academy and Montgomery County was honored to host and provide education to participants. Six participant’s visited McCraw’s Strawberry Ranch this past Monday, August 18th.

Billy and Teresa McCraw, owners and 2014 recipients of the Small Farmers Award in Alternative Enterprises category, demonstrated how they plant plasticulture strawberries.

Montgomery County Extension office now accepting applications for Fall 2013 Master Gardener Course

Montgomery County Master Gardeners AssociationMontgomery County, TN – Fall 2013 Master Gardener Course applications now being accepted by the Montgomery County Extension office.

All classes will be held at the Montgomery County Extension office on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm beginning August 27th and ending November 19th.

The fee for the class is $100.00 or $125.00 per couple (if sharing a book). [Read more]
