Magic at the Museum returned to the Customs House Museum on Saturday

Magic at the MuseumClarksville, TN – Magician Gary Flegal gave an amazing show that stunned the auditorium full of kids and their parents at Magic at the Museum show on Saturday. The show was sponsored by Maurice And Terri Vaughn the owners of Better Homes & Garden Real Estate Hometown Connection. In addition to amazing magic tricks, the afternoon featured face painting, “Magic” favorite Russ Nowack making balloon animals for the kids, and a free tour of the Custom House Museum.

When it was time for the show to begin, the auditorium was packed full of excited kids and their parents. A few lucky attendees were allowed to assist with some of the tricks.

Mission Clarksville Students Grow Food at APSU Farm to Help Feed Area’s Hungry

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – On a hot morning in July, a group of local teenagers gathered in a massive garden off Pickens Road to get their hands dirty. They came to pull weeds and water plants, and after several hours in the hot sun, they left with several bushels of fresh vegetables.

“It was great having those kids out here,” Dr. Donald Sudbrink, chair of the Austin Peay State University Department of Agriculture, said. “They were so enthusiastic about learning and working in our APSU Victory garden.”

Mayor’s Fitness Event to Feature Mission Clarksville Garden

City of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan will have the second of her fitness events immediately following Mission Clarksville’s Passing of the Shovel ceremony at 4:00pm. Friday at the group’s community garden on Mount Carmel Road.

At the event, the Mayor will be gardening, a great outdoor activity that gets people moving while producing rewards of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as beautiful plants and flowers. [Read more]

Weed, water, thin: Mission Clarksville interns carry out the steps to a bountiful crop

“The Food Initiative”
“The Edge”
“Into the Wild”

This triple play of interconnected programs is designed  “… to develop a thoughtful and productive community of young people who can change the world in a lasting and positive way.”

Thus, with a $5,000 matching gift from the Dandridge Trust, “Mission Clarksville” made its formal debut Monday evening with a video presentation and a “meet and greet” with program administrators and more than two dozen  representatives of  Clarksville businesses, schools and media. The funds already raised are directed to offset start-up costs for this ministry. The Dandridge Trust is a charitable organization closely related to the Episcopal Church.

Patrick Smith, Executive Director of Mission Clarksville,  urged listeners to “raise expectations,” noting that our children “will rise to the occasion.” His message is simple: create a healthy outlook on life, on relationships, on leadership, on responsibility by working hard, on working as part of a team and a community, and giving back to that community.
