Clarksville Civil War RoundtableClarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.

The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Austin Peay State University hosting documentary film series

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Honors Program is partnering with the Nashville Film Festival, Nashville Public Television and Lipscomb University to bring documentaries on social issues to the Middle Tennessee community this fall.

The APSU Honors Program will present the first film in the series, “Big Men,” at 7:00pm, on September 17th, in the APSU Morgan University Center, Room 305. The film, produced by Brad Pitt, examines the impact of oil development in Ghana and the Niger delta. [Read more]

Clarksville Riverfest went Wild for Nashville Zoo’s Wildlife on Wheels

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – The Nashville Zoo’s “Wildlife on Wheels” was at Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at the Adventure Zone. The show is a regular at Riverfest at each year and a hit with kids and adults alike.

“We love coming to Riverfest. At the Nashville Zoo, we just love being able to come out to events like this to educate young children and get them passionate about the animals,” stated BHD Keeper Anna Currie with the Nashville Zoo.

Several renowned musicians to visit APSU this year as Acuff Chairs of Excellence

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – When Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto first premiered in Prague in October 1791, the famed piece sounded much different than what audiences often hear today.

The composer’s friend, Anton Stadler, used a basset clarinet in that first performance, but the instrument fell out of favor in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Modern performances of the work are simply faint echoes of the how the piece was originally conceived.

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – Clarksville’s Riverfest Celebration has added a new addition to it’s two-day music and arts festival scheduled for September 5th and 6th, 2014 at McGregor Park. The first annual 52-Hour Film Festival, presented by the Clarksville Department of Electricity, will take place Saturday, September 6th.

The 52 Hour Film Festival will put filmmakers from all over Middle Tennessee in a competition for a chance to win big!

Clarksville Singer/Songwriter Lydia Walker to Perform at Riverfest

2014 RiverfestClarksville TN – Local singer/songwriter Lydia Walker has become a household name in recent years. The songstress has performed at numerous festivals, events, coffee shops, churches, and colleges in our region of Middle TN and Southern KY.

Her music can be described as Contemporary Folk, accompanied by her acoustic guitar and occasionally a ukulele. She has taken the stage hundreds of times, sharing her songs with as many people as she can.

Now she will be bringing her music to one of the biggest annual events in Clarksville.

Clarksville’s Dunbar Cave State Park Programs for August 3rd through August 9th, 2014

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TNDunbar Cave State Natural Area has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. There are programs for children and adults.

Some of the upcoming events include: Nature Boot Camp, Beginning Birding, Trail of Tears Walk, Fishing Equipment and Techniques, and Insects.
