Clarksville, TN – The Acuff Circle of Excellence has rebranded and refined its mission to better align with the organization with which it supports, APSU’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or “seek-ah”). Beginning this fall, the Acuff Circle of Excellence is known as the CECA Advisory Board.

With a list totaling almost 70 individuals, Visit Clarksville officials decided to add a new section to their website that would showcase some of the area’s most accomplished residents.

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Economic Development Council (EDC) announces the hiring of Michelle Dickerson as Marketing and Communications Director.
In this role, she will manage the marketing, public relations, advertising and communications efforts of the Economic Development Council and its member entites, the Industrial Development Board, Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Amber Wallace Displays Mixed Media Americana at Planters Bank in September

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature mixed media art by Amber Wallace from Thursday, September 3rd – Wednesday, September 30th.
Amber Wallace is an artist that likes to pay homage to the past. Her work is often executed on recycled/upcycled materials such as barn wood, vintage doors and windows, abandoned drawers and cutting boards, etc. By repurposing these materials, they are given a new life and new story, thus preserving a little piece of what came before us. Her work incorporates lots of color and texture, and she draws inspiration from nature, history, and from her little girl Posey.
Watercolorist Patsy Sharpe to Show Work at Planters Bank in August

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature an exhibit titled “The Still Life” by Clarksville Artist Patsy Sharpe from Thursday, August 6th – Wednesday, September 30th.
Sharpe is an established painter, a Signature Tennessee Watercolor Society member, and member of many art organizations such as The Miniature Art Society of Florida, the Southern Watercolor Society, the Chestnut Group and the 2RiversPainters. She currently teaches art at Centerstone, as well as the occasional workshop, and heads the Region II Tennessee Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition in Clarksville.

Clarksville’s 9th Annual ‘Frolic on Franklin’ Set for September 13th

Clarksville, TN – Downtown Clarksville’s 9th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts” will take place Saturday, September 13th from 8:30am-3:30pm.
The free event will showcase the works of more than 30 artists, staged entertainment, art demonstrations, and a doggie fashion show – all along the 100 block of historic Franklin Street.
A variety of original fine art, as well as handmade crafts, will be on display including paintings and photography, jewelry, clay garden items, wood work, purses and fabric accessories, pottery, candles, jewelry, woven and knitted items, and seasonal gifts. Items will be for sale with prices ranging from $2.00 – $500.00.
Disney’s “Tarzan” Swings Into the Roxy Regional Theatre, May 16th – May 31st

Clarksville, TN – “Two worlds, one family.” The classic story of an outsider trying to fit in is at the heart of the Roxy Regional School of the Arts annual spring musical, Disney’s “Tarzan”, playing May 16th – May 31st.
Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “Tarzan of the Apes” and the hit Disney film, this action-packed musical tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa. Taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas, Young Tarzan (played by Riley Jenkins) strives for acceptance by his ape father while grappling with his uniqueness.
Artist Applications Available for 2014 Frolic on Franklin

Clarksville, TN – Artist applications are now available for booth space at the 9th Annual “Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts.” The event will be held on Saturday, September 13th from 8:30am-3:30pm in the 100-block of Franklin Street.
Artists may display, sell, and demonstrate original and hand-created items.
Participation is limited to 28 applicants and a $25.00 entry fee is required.
