APSU Governor’s School students surprised by helicopter landing

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Governor’s School for Computational Physics at Austin Peay State University (APSU) surprised the 36 high school students attending with a rare treat this week – a surprise landing of one of the school’s helicopters.

On June 5th, 2019, just before 4:00pm former Special Operations pilot Charlie Weigandt eased one of Austin Peay’s Guimbal Cabri G2 helicopters onto the Dunn Center lawn.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – We’re going to level with you. The Austin Peay State University Drone Club’s racing drones are too fast for we at Public Relations to catch on video. When they really get rocking, they travel around 100 mph, and we can’t keep up with them.

They’re just a blur.

The Drone Club at APSU has three drone racers who will vie this week to qualify for the national championship next spring. The drones can travel up to 100 mph. Bigger racing drones can go faster. (APSU student Denzil Wyatt)
