Chicago Artist Sergio Gomez Exhibits at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville, TN – Chicago-based artist Sergio Gomez brings his bold figurative works to the Customs House Museum with the exhibit The Land In Between.
Exhibited in the two-story Crouch Gallery, the moody, ghost-like forms that anchor Gomez’s large paintings appear restless and calm at the same time, amid dripping colors and spackled landscapes.

APSU’s Hispanic Cultural Center hosting Day of the Dead events October 28th through November 1st

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Hispanic Cultural Center will host the Govs Cherish and Share: 2013 Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos Art Exhibit from October 28th-November 1st in the Morgan University Center’s Third Floor Gallery.

Clarksville, TN – The 11th annual Rivers and Spires Festival will be begin Thursday April 18th and continue through Saturday, April 20th. The streets of Historic Downtown Clarksville will be lined with food vendors, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities.
There will be over 100 acts performing all three days on five seperate stages. Music, art, food, there is something at Rivers and Spires for everyone to enjoy. And the truly great thing is that all the concerts and activities are free.

APSU journal on Hispanic literature, Polifonía, included in Cervantes Institute’s database

Clarksville, TN – Earlier this semester, Austin Peay State University’s Department of Languages and Literature released the first print edition of Polifonía, a Spanish language scholarly journal that caters to Hispanic literature.
“The whole intention (of the journal) was to get our name out,” Dr. Osvaldo DiPaolo, APSU assistant professor of Spanish and journal editor, said at the time. “It makes us look better from the outside, and it can bring potential students who are interested.”

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, September 19th at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall. The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Planters Bank’s Kyle Luther Graduates from Louisiana State University Banking School

Clarksville, TN – Planters Bank Vice President of Commercial Banking Kyle D. Luther was among the 160 graduates on June 1st, 2012 of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
The three-year program provides courses in all aspects of banking, economics and related subjects. Students traveled from 20 states and Mexico to participate in the session.
