Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 holds annual Memorial Day Candle Light Vigil

Clarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not. The body of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on March 21st of this year. There are 27 remaining missing POW/MIA’s from the State of Tennessee. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.

he Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396 holds this Memorial Day Vigil each year to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces left that country in 1975.

Clarksville’s Roxy Regional Theatre’s Les Misérables is a show you should not miss

Will Sevier stars as the noble Jean Valjean, who has been released after 19 years of unjust imprisonment in pre-revolutionary France, only to find nothing in store for him but mistrust and mistreatment. Breaking his parole in hopes of starting a new life, he initiates a life-long struggle for redemption during which he is relentlessly pursued by police inspector Javert (played by Donald Groves), who refuses to believe criminals can change their ways.

Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday, March 29th, to Launch Seven-Week Run

Roxy Regional TheatreClarksville, TN – Epic, grand and uplifting, “Les Miserables” has captured the hearts of audiences around the country, and its powerful affirmation of the human spirit has made this adaptation of the Victor Hugo classic an international smash-hit.

This spring, Boublil and Schonberg’s popular masterpiece takes the stage of the Roxy Regional Theatre, March 28th – May 10th.

A grand opening celebration with the cast on Saturday, March 29th, launches the seven-week run of “Les Miserables”. Following that evening’s 8:00pm performance, audience members will be invited onstage to socialize with the cast over champagne and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $50.00 (including the show).

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office employees visit Tennessee State Capitol

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson and employees of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), as well as volunteers with the The Silent Witness Project were on hand at the Tennessee State Capitol today to show passers-by silhouette plaques memorializing fallen victims of domestic violence.

Family members of victims, as well as organizers of the project, were recognized by Representative John Tidwell during the Civil Justice Committee meeting.

Aspire Clarksville to Kickoff new Fundraising Campaign in February

Aspire Clarksville FoundationClarksville, TN – Aspire Clarksville, an economic development foundation to benefit Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee, will officially launch its new campaign at a kickoff breakfast in early February.

The new, five-year, campaign aims to raise nearly $3.8 million for local business development, which is anticipated to bring over 3,500 jobs to the area.

The new effort, “A Focus On The Future,” is the fifth campaign since the Aspire initiative was started in 1996. [Read more]

Friends of Dunbar Cave seeks Additional Land for Dunbar Cave State Natural Area

Dunbar Cave State Natural AreaClarksville, TN – The Friends of Dunbar Cave are pursuing a purchase of 30 acres adjacent to Clarksville’s only state park, Dunbar Cave State Natural Area (DCSNA). The 30 acres, known as the Ritter-Caroland property, is the only remaining property contiguous to the park that is undeveloped.

The current park consists of 110 acres. This additional 30 acres would greatly expand the size of the park, as well as protect the environment of the area which includes the Red River Watershed (the drainage system for the park.)

Annual Candle Light Vigil honors those still missing in action from Vietnam

Vietnam Veterans of America LogoClarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers as we do each year on Memorial Day. It is important not only to honor those who lived to come home, but even more importantly to remember those who did not.

This was a solemn year as there remains of two soldiers who had been missing in action had been returned, that leaves 30 from the State of Tennessee who have yet to return home. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.
