Clarksville’s Manna Cafe Opens Night Only Emergency Shelter

Clarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries is opening a night-only emergency warming shelter for four nights, beginning Sunday, March 23rd at 6:00pm and concluding at 8:00am on Thursday, March 27th.

Montgomery County, TN – The latest business to host a Green Ribbon Cutting for becoming Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certified is Publix.
Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers, Clarksville Chief of Administration Bill Harpel, on behalf of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce Melinda Shepard, and Publix District Manager David Fulmer were there to congratulate the Clarksville Publix stores for their work.

“My love of nature and all things natural is the basis for most of my art. I am moved tremendously by a lovely landscape or natural area. However, a favorite theme of mine is close inspection of a flower or particular area in my garden or in woodland scenes,” she explains.

Clarksville’s Empty Bowls fundraiser coming February 25th, 2014

Over 1000 bowls are prepared for Empty Bowls 2014 Annual fundraiser!
Clarksville, TN – The bowls come in all shapes and sizes with stripes, polka dots, swirls, crosses and flowers. Last week, under the direction of Professor Ken Shipley, volunteers lined up in the APSU Trahern Ceramics Studio to glaze hundreds of bowls decorated by the community for the annual Empty Bowls Clarksville-Hope not Hunger event to be held on February 25th, 2014.
The Empty Bowls project begins each year with Professor Shipley, volunteers and students making bowls from clay which the community paint and decorate.

Sixth annual Empty Bowls Clarksville expands Hope Not Hunger fundraiser to six congregations in 2014.
Clarksville, TN – The problems associated with hunger and food insecurity are not confined to the nation’s largest cities. With over seventeen percent of Clarksville residents living below the poverty level, hunger and food insecurity are a harsh reality for many people in our community.
That means that hundreds of working adults, children and seniors in our community struggle with hunger every day. Food insecurity refers to the availability of food and access to it. Those who are considered food insecure do not know when they will have their next meal.

Clarksville, TN – Convenient Car Care Inc. has announced that their Valvoline Instant Oil Change locations will begin collecting coats and blankets on behalf of Manna Cafe ministries.
Beginning Monday, January 6th, customers who visit one of 7 Valvoline Instant Oil Change locations in Clarksville and Oak Grove KY, will receive $5.00 off any oil change service, if they donate a coat or blanket. Valvoline will gather the donations and deliver them to Manna Cafe Ministries, and they will be distributed to those in need.
