Final Group of 2012 Working Towards Green Certification

Montgomery County, TN – A seventh group of participants completed the Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification Program (CMCGCP) workshops this month.
The group began the process in October 2012 with plans to complete their certifications by April 2013.

Phase II construction of Austin Peay student housing now under way

Clarksville, TN – For the last few weeks, the Austin Peay State University community has watched the demolition of three student residence halls that have been a mainstay on the campus for more than three decades.
Now, another historical milestone will unfold, months after the new Castle Heights residence hall opened on campus. Construction for the second phase of the student housing complex is under way on Drane Street – and it has the potential to change the layout of the campus.

City officially opens the newest section of the Riverwalk

In a formal ribbon cutting ceremony the City of Clarksville unveiled the new North Riverwalk Extension on Wednesday. Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper listed the features to the attendees at the ribbon cutting ceremony which consists of a 12’ sidewalk lined with park benches, picnic tables, and lighting along the Cumberland River from Pilot’s Plaza (behind O’Charleys) to the mouth of the Red River.

The City of Clarksville invites you to the unveiling of the North Riverwalk Extension Wednesday, June 23rd at 4:00pm. The North Riverwalk Extension consists of a 12’ sidewalk, park benches, picnic tables, lighting, landscaping and irrigation from Pilot’s Plaza (behind O’Charleys) to the confluence of the Cumberland and Red River’s as well as a development pad. Clarksville-Montgomery County leadership look ahead to Civil War Sesquicentennial

It was just 150 years ago that our nation was torn apart by the Civil War. Brother faced off against brother in often brutal battles. Even after the Union’s victory and the eventual reunification of the southern states lingering tensions remained for many years.
It is said time heals all wounds and indeed and we are looking at the approaching sesquicentennial of the Civil War in 2011 with a air of celebration,recognizing of the history of America in a way that everyone can embrace.
We are fortunate to be in an area with a rich Civil War heritage including Fort Defiance (Fort Bruce), nearby Fort Donelson, and other Civil War sites. City and County leaders hope to be ready to attract tourists who will be the traveling the country visiting civil war era sites as a part of the Civil War Sesquicentennial.

APSU to build new student residence complex

Austin Peay State University will begin construction of a new residence hall complex in Fall 2009.
The 416-bed facility will replace three existing residence halls on the APSU main campus: Cross, Killebrew and Rawlins. These three halls house a total of 392 students, Joe Mills, director of APSU Housing, said.
